It is the same thing as what you received. It may "look" black, but it's actually a dark gray that is semi translucent. The film is made to project the transmitted light but also to absorb the ambient light so that the projected image looks bright and crisp. Hope this helps.
The projector is mounted on the "inside" of the storefront, so people walking in front of the store do not affect the image. The positioning of the projector on the inside is usually done high and away from the floor, so there is less chance of any interference on that side too. Short-throw projectors and advanced keystoning capabilities are required for some installations - hope this helps.
The image quality is fantastic - it all depends on the quality of your digital imagery and the quality of the projector. The "blue-ness" of the image is down to the crappy little camera I used. Yes, basically this is a rear-projection application. It is intended primarily for exterior viewing of retail environments. In those same environments, a TV no matter how big or bright will NOT out-perform this product from on any of the following aspects: sharpness, brightness, or angle-of-viewing.
what lumen / type projector are you using here and what lumen is suggested for a square meter screen for a store front sign is recommended. thank you for your excellent and informative display
How much something like that cost? Where can I get one from? I have a project on mind to install it on my rear mini van windshield to used as my business display advertisement. It would be so cool to hear from about any info. Thank you. It looks outstanding
It really depends on the application - how long it will run - what the "throw depth" is from the window surface to the projector location, the amount of lumen (brightness) required, etc.
Thank you so much for the reply! I actually asked about this to the 3M dealer and they told me the same but I wanted to be sure. If there's no problem I would like to ask you something else, can this film work over a tinted glass? Should I tint the glass in wich I'll mount it? I'm worried about the intense sun light hours. Thank you again! Take care! :)
I have a similar setup with the same film (it is transparent) on a pane of glass but when I turn the projector on, the projection bleeds through the glass and onto the opposite wall. What could the problem be?
Hi! I see the film is completely black, is it because of the VIKUITI film or is there some sort of treatment that the glass needs to be like that?! I bought some meters of VIKUITI in México from 3M but they weren't completely black, they said it blocked 60% of light. Is it because it's a different film?
The choice of projector is driven by many factors such as desired brightness/lumens, continuous hours of operation, throw distance to the screen, internal/exterior needs, etc.
Hi Ray, could you please tell me which portable Hard disk is connecting with the projector. I do not want to use a laptop. Is your hard disk play the HD video??? Pls reply...
I'm not sure what model the portable hard drive is - the unit is no longer in my office. You need one that has a video display port (XGA/VGA or HDMI) that can connect to the projector. Yes, the video is playing from the hard drive. Hope this helps.
you need to check with your local 3M representative. They can help you with the actual Vikuiti film. You will need to work with an AV specialist to source the projector, and you will need someone to pull together the digital content that you want to display. Finally, you will need an installation specialist to put the whole thing together.
