540 is ok for this gearbox and allows you more torque options depending on how you run it. I went with the 21t motor since the crawler is so light & gives it a little more wheel speed for trailing. I've been running the 540 motor now for months with no issue.

good to know, with 390 motor gearbox should be bullet proof! have you changed bushes for bearings?@@PJsElectricRCAdventures
