Mario Melchiot, Craig Burley and Shaka Hislop join Dan Thomas on ESPN FC to discuss Mohamed Salah's drama with Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp and react to Liverpool's 2-2 draw with West Ham.
Salah should never have tried to terrorise his manager, salah is an average player and never was a good one. The best thing is if Li-VAR-pool ship him to the desert, where he belongs
Those stats at the beginning are actually insane. 44 goals and 15 assists in his first season back in the premier league. Has to be one of the best first seasons in prem history
But it wasn't his first season, for first season back, ain't first season. So feel free to enter his "first season back in the premier league" into the "first season back in the premier league" competition.
every competitive pro player would be. that ego they have is part of what helps them to perform at a high level. in sports, confidence is very important
Pundits making such a big deal of it! Remember when KDB said shut up to Pep and everyone heard it but no back pages, sport bar, ESPN, etc analysis of it?
KDB was literally on the pitch trying to play and Pep was on 11 in his ear about what to do every second. Totally different bc that was in game passion; and OBVIOUSLY not indicative of a fracture between the men with the same goal. Salah's reaction to Klopp absolutely highlights WAY more going on, and that's why it's getting legs. Pep being a perfectionist and micro-manager isn't new and it's always gotten results = no story.
@@tla_studiosthat was one incident. There was other times that KDB and pep got in argument and we all seen it on our TVs. Most recently when he subbed him few games ago
The difference is they did this while winning . When team is winning and this things happen it's not that big news but if your team is losing then it's different
Wow just wow to his numbers again. Everyone would like to have a player like him. I hope Mr Slot let him play more central at our attacking team and we get another players like Firmino and Mane to attack with him together. That would be for sure more succesfull for our Liverpool. Diaz and mostly Nunez aren't that. Well done Mo we love you and please stay and show all the haters where they place is.
Salah deserves to feel the way he felt . He is a club legend . He has done so much for Liverpool . I don't understand why people are quick to want to blame someone. Klopp decision to bench him was the right move and also Salah getting upset about being benched was also valid. Nobody has blame
Yeah maybe salah underperforming in the last few games...but come on.. underperforming salah miles better than Elliot...why klopp decided to bench him 2 games in a row in title race like this..klopp is being absolutely ridiculous!
This is all just a storm in a tea cup. A top player and coach has had a disagreement. So what? Happens every day. Salah is a humble guy with no record of shenanigans. 210 goals, and at a better strike rate than the only two players ahead of him all time says all. He's a legend.
@@Colby_0-3_IRL_and_title_fights I mean Salah is showing passion and fire in his arguing but not so much on the pitch. that said I give him the benefit of the doubt, first time injured and completely out of form, maybe there's some psychological issue there. he is ducking out of challenges and backing down, his mentality on the pitch is bad for whatever reason
I mostly agree with what you are saying, except Salah as humble as he is in many areas IS a true competitor and has shown his unhappiness whenever he is benched. I remember a few situations between him and Mane. The cross the line moment here was arguing on the touchline, the rest is between him and Klopp.
@Lioness_UTV No elite level player with an elite winning mentality enjoys being benched. That’s the bottom line. The fact that Salah gets frustrated when subbed shows that he actually cares.
Spot on comment Greg. Carabao cup winning team was with out most senior team. JK has the overall decision as the legitimate Mgr on who to play for the day match.
Im a City fan but feel sorry for Jurgen Klop,he does'nt need this from his players after grooming them to be toplevel players and the great football team they are now
So why did the ref try to make out the keeper was injured and call the physio on when no one, including the keeper, thought he was injured. If it was down to no advantage being gained then he didn't need to tell the keeper to go down to cover his own mistake. Another goal for Liverpool stolen by the PGMOL.
Mo Salah coming on as a sub and throws his dummy, Haaland coming on as a sub and scoring...different ego's I agree with Craig, oh and I am a Liverpool fan !!!!!
Nunez, Gapko, Diaz are all average. Salah world class but sadly he got injured and didnt retain his form. Jota is the only attacker doing his job done well at Liverpool but sadly he is also often injured
As a talented competitive player I suspect Salah's frustration boiled over as Liverpool were so close and his below par performance, a leader on the team has contributed to losing out on cups, out of the title race, Klopp leaving, the season that looked so promising in April has now disapated.
you all are sh*tting on Salah who has 36 goal contributions in 41 games. he is having a wonderful season and Liverpool's collaspe is no fault of his. we have become so dissensitised that we would consider a 36 goal contribution player as having a bad season.
Common guys, give some respect to Salah. You drop him because of his form, then you bring him in the last 12 minutes, that is humiliation to such a great player. In more than one season he carried the team on his shoulders, people have short memories. This stupid pundit calling him a kid, he is a proud player with winning mentality. Salah may be wrong to point to Klopp as he did in the clash, but no one knows what Klopp said to Salah to provoke his reaction.
The biggest problem is when salah’s form dipped no one stepped up and the defense let us down, if only any of the games anyone else could carry us things would have gone differently, also not to mention odegard handball in our match and Diaz goal in Tottenham (by the way Salah would have been top of assists 2024 with less games than others and calling him poor)
Salah’s finishing may have dipped, but the narrative portraying him as deserving to be benched solely based on this is overly simplistic. Despite his goal stats, his post-AFCON performances have been okay, certainly not as bad as the media will she you believe. Examples like his passes to set up teammates, such as Diaz against City, and numerous chances created for Nunez, demonstrate his contribution. Additionally, his performance is affected by his teammates’ poor finishing, amplifying any shortcomings. In my view, he’s unfairly judged based solely on his scoring record.
Fully with Craig on this - I can’t understand how many pundits think Salah should never be dropped, but I also wonder if the “fire” comment was more about how the media would react whatever he said rather than in the dressing room?
If Salah had played for another club like Manchester United, he would have been properly appreciated. Look how they value Bruno, who is never compared to Salah. Salah was the best player in Liverpool for seven years, and in the end, he was introduced in an important match in the last eight minutes. This is a huge insult to a legend like Salah. This is the least he can do to express his feelings
The altercation between Salah and Klop was triggered by the equalising goal Westham scored at the time Salah was preparing to come in. Prior to that time, Salah was visibly angry at Klop for staying for too long on the bench, which rightly was not deserved. Now, for those fans clamouring for Salah's exit. Do they think any new coach would be stupid enough to want him to leave?? A player who delivers 20+ goals for 8 consecutive seasons back to back? They'll be shocked when Pep hijacks him to City;🎉 because Salah is not prepared to go to Saudi at this time, and what that means is that City wins everything again for another 3 years. But i wonder why everyone forget that it is a regular pattern that Salah drops form every season between 28th or 29th and 38th week. During that time, he only contributed to the attack, which Mane, Jota, and Firminho converted to goals. That is exactly what is lacking in the present team of Nunez, Diaz, and Gakpo. They couldn't cover for Salah at this period by failing to convert all the clean assists he gave them, and because of that, everyone unfairly poured their frustration on Salah. Klop is the one who lacks a proactive strategy to mitigate his drop of form by working on wasteful Nunez and Diaz. As the manager he shoukd have known that Salah will drop form around this period. It happens to him every season, it's not something that is new to me and i don't expect other Liverpool fans to be surprised at his drop in form. Every season he gets almost all his numbers before week 29. Presently this guy already had 24 goals, 13 assists, a total of 37 goals contribution. And with 17 goals in the PL, his aim is to probably get 3+ goals in the remaining 4 games and Klop decided to bench him. Which top player would be happy with that?
I can see it from both angles klopp in recent games has made some strange selections and the other day he brought Mo on when Everton was beating them listen I'm totally for shouldn't do what Salah did at the end but this is a guy who's did the business year after year for Liverpool and it ain't just him who's firing blanks in that team for me it's nothing major because these are 2 soldiers having a dispute it just happens they both can take it
Really do think ESPN guys don’t know much about football or football players to be honest.. it’s like a few friends having a dum conversation about football because they favor one team or player at the moment
As if Diaz, Gakpo, Darwin having been doing it. Two goals in eight matches is fantastic form for them. Even starting him on the bench may be justified but to sub him on with ten or so minutes to go is the bigger problem.
It’s crazy how everyone is telling salah to ‘move on’ and leave because of one moment that is very out of character for him. He’s still one of the top scorers in the league and he missed a big chunk of the season too.
Finally, something talking like a pro and not a spoil child. Seeing some stupid pundits saying he should just play him and it is disrespectful not playing him.
Remember when Liverpool fans used to force Eden Hazard comparisons. Hazard used to be compared to Messi and Ronaldo while Liverpool fans now want to get rid of Salah. At this point, Origi is bigger Liverpool legend than Salah.
Hazard being compared to Messi in that era was the most stupid deluded ludicrous narrative by deluded Prem fans yet again That guy couldn't even lace Neymar's boots let alone MESSI
@@ahmedbaashi8872well I dont know what you think m8 but I did see a comment on here that liverpool fans were comparing salah to hazard well I am a liverpool fan and I aint comparing them because mo salah is levels above hazard re what matters metrics and numbers as in goals and assists eden hazard had like two decent seasons at chelsea decent player in his day granted but not as consistent as mo salah no way🤣 and re mo salah recent slump in form if we are calling it that he is still liverpool top scorer this season and is three away from twenty goals in prem this season and people say this is a bad season🤣 I mean ok yes he had better seasons and he aint been at his best since he returned from the afcon the injury he picked up didnt help but its just form his numbers are still really good as I said you cant put it all on mo salah when liverpool are struggling imo other players need to step it up aswell imo 🤔
African players gets more scrutiny than the rest. The guy has 36 goal contributions in 41 games this season and u are calling him a big baby??? Shameful pundits
I think people are making more of this than there is salah was upset about being on subs bench but he and Nunez have not being playing well so i understand what klopp did and what ever klopp said to salah before he cam on it would of not been anything negative
As a LFC fan I think we should bite the Saudi hand off that offers us 100 mill. Reinvest it into two RW players - one expected to start for 60, and another from France/Germaney or whatever expected to put pressure on the spot 25-30. Elise and ...? IDK Spend the change on a young CB.
Huge LFC fan. I will hold Mo Sallah as a legend for eternity, but its now time to sell him. He is worth WAY too much to be let go for free in the future.
5 starts in those 8 games, so don't make out Klopp hasn't been picking him! In that period his goals per 90 minutes have plunged from 0.71 to 0.38 in the PL. Should have been sold last summer and based on his recent form they won't now get what was an offer.
I'm with Craig on this.....Salah was embarrassing at the weekend and I'm a Liverpool fan. He thinks everything revolves around him now does Salah!! Klopp is the manager and Klopp makes the decisions as to who plays or not. I want Salah gone now so that Slot doesn't have to deal with that kind of bollocks next season. Get Salah gone and bring Bowen in, Bowen is a proper team player and gets better and better every season.
Some fact for Burley and Shaka..Players out when Liverpool were wining. GK, Alisson. Defenders out Trent Alexander-Arnold Matip, Robertson, Tmikas, . Midfield Out. Slozabai, Jones, Thiago, Bajcetic , Forwards Diogo Jota, Ben Doak. TAA, Robertson, Slozabia, Jones, Jota all returned when LFC went out the window, and Gapko was being played instead of Salah with Jota.
Craig needs to brush up on the rules. The ref didn't give a freekick, or play advantage in lieu of a freekick. This is proved by the fact that the ref restarts play with a drop ball. If it had been deemed a freekick or no advantage following a freekick, then the restart would have been ... a freekick. The ref was wrong to interfere.
As expected the ESPN pundits 🙄 Both Pep Guardiola and Klopp having bust ups with star players but not one of them talks about Managers Having difficulty managing Modern Players . If it was Mourinho the Narrative would be quite different 🙄🙄
You take Sane and Firminho & replace them with Nunez & Diaz, gee goly i wonder why Salahs form dropped. It would have made more sense to ship him off when they moved away from them other 2.
Sadio mane was fed.up with salahs selfishness. Its the same with rashford. Its just yhat Liverpool has the midfield and defence to win back the ball for salah. Pure facts😊
this is kinda exaggerated tbh. it's just player temper being frustrated with the losses. lewandowski had a little row with xavi almost and talked in the media as well but at the end of the day its clear he highly respected xavi and was just frustrated by the lack of goals, dropping of points, and constant barrage of negativity from the media
