Over an FBI wiretap during the early 1970s, Giancana said of Roe, "I'll say this. Black or no black, that bastard went out like a man. He had balls"

Tough Teddy Roe!!!! He was that dude! He was like Madam Stephanie St. Clair in Harlem. Only thing is Teddy didn't have no Bumpy to assist him. He had those soft, tissue-paper Jones Brothers who ultimately betrayed him. By far, the best piece I've seen about Tough Teddy Roe. Another great piece by AFBM!!! Excellente!!!

From David A. Wood: Chicago's South Side Illegal Gambling Kingpin Eddie Jones may have been more famous, and also initially more important, in African-American Chicago's Illegal Gambling business or "Policy Racket," but Jones associate Teddy Roe was decidedly the more admirably fearless opponent that the "The Outfit" faced as they had to finally kill him in 1952 before they were able to completely take over the part of the African-American "Policy Racket" that was located in Chicago's South Side.

Big props for this informative biography on the late legend Teddy Roe! You're possibly the best historian on RU-vid regarding organized crime history! What makes you so special is your clarity and authenticity. Ted Roe was a man of class, dignity, intelligence, bravery, and tribal pride regardless of being of mixed ancestry. He was a racketeer who was highly successful and respected in the Bronzeville community of Chicago during the early and middle 20th century when Black people prospered during segregation! I would love to see a well-written biographical film about his life because he was a man who was viewed with respect within his community and even by gangsters as powerful as that devil Sam Giancana! Sam met his dreadful fate later in life. Hollywood doesn't care about our heroes so an actor like Denzel Washington should be involved, with the Hughes Brothers or Spike Lee directing, and a producer like Tyler Perry should get behind this. Sadly, Tyler Perry rather be in drag!

The real story of William “Bub” Hewlett needs to be told…. They predict him so poorly in these movies it’s a shame. he was the first godfather of Harlem…. He was the first black bad man of Harlem …… he fought against the crooked cops and the gangsters so the black shopkeepers could get a part of the market…. All four of his children graduated from college and did spectacularly well out of the life like the Jewish gangsters children. (Boxer) bootlegger, personal friend of Owen’s Madden…. and worked with and had the respect of Dutch Schultz…. the only black gangster to benefit from the 1919 World Series fix…… come on this guy was a beast and he story needs to be told.

Wow, very interesting. I didn't know this Gangster. Great narrator with an excellent voice, i like your channel. Btw, to me Murder Inc. were the most shocking, gruesome and bloody assassins ever in crime history. They killed for money, for business. Over 1000 murders, real, real disturbing. Only Kuklinsky was equal sadistic in modern times.

Sigh. The Jones Bros should’ve tooled up but I understand. They weren’t that type of organization. Eddie was way too trusting as well. From what I read years ago, Teddy was diagnosed with terminal cancer and rather than die a slow death, he opted to go out by bullets. He released his muscle and walked out the house wearing a fancy suit. When his opps seen him alone, they opened fire on him and he died in a hail of bullets.

Eddie Jones was locked up with Sam Giancana in the 1940s, they became acquainted. Eddie Jones taught Sam Giancana on the policy rackets. In turn Sam Giancana later kidnapped Eddie Jones and gave him a 100,000 to get out of town or be killed and took over the policy racket on the south side and became a multimillionaire.
