Mobile AL Show Concept Promo 3 "Playroom" Set

This was the third of three videos I recorded and sent to the Entertainment Department, per the request of my District Manager at the time, to showcase the store and show. This video contains the concept art and near final set design for Chuck E's stage in the "Playroom" set. The audio used in this promotional clip is "Promise of a New Day" by Paula Abdul.

The work you all did during this time period on Mobile is impressive. I really wish it was never reverted back to the typical backdrops and props and stuff. I wish it stayed unique but alas, good things must come to an end.

The whole playroom design for the 3 stage is just amazing. It's very rare to see these kind of style. Seeing chuck in his coach outfit was also a great sight to see. I'm surprised no one has done that before at the time. Very awesome job Brian 😄👏🏽

You did an amazing job in mid 90s I wish cec never turned mobile al to a regular 3 stage because the decorations and tech you did was very impressive that it can inspired lots of animatronic fans like me. 👍

The helicopters base on the wall was still there when I last visited in 2019, I also saw some of the faint red paint and the crayon decals of this stage

I wasn't alive to see the heyday of Munch's Make Believe Band (I was born in '03), but I'm very lucky to be able to access this concept. In comparison to a lot of the stilted displays I've seen, your work is very fresh and lively! Please continue to post any content you have, it really amazes me.

@@brianhagan question, when concept unication took place, did you get to see the old rockafire show before being converted to munches make believe band? Also why didn’t this and the Vegas 3 stage ever make it past concept stage and weren’t installed in other CEC locations in the late 90’s?

I don’t believe so, this was footage of the stage evolution based on Chuck’s set only. The other stages were finished later but there are pictures in the slideshows of them.

This Chuck E animatronic looks more like he converted from a Mitzi animatronic than a Rolfe animatronic, which I heard was actually the original idea.

Yes, in a concept prototype they did use a Mitzi frame as Chuck E. The final product ended up being Concept Unification where Rolfe was used as Chuck E. with a modified right arm to remove Earl.

No, the mask mold for this 2nd generation CEC mask was designed by Dave Thomas in Orlando.

Unfortunately I don’t have an answer for that question. They had to be purchased through the CEC Parts Dept by the actual store location.

Why is the propeller keep spinning?

The propeller was activated by a signal in the show. Since it was equally balanced it would continue to free spin for a short period even if it was not activated. Think of it like a giant fidget spinner.
