Hi everyone! ExxotikGaming here - hope you're all having a great day today! Recently I've begun to get worried about the future of mobile gaming...it has changed a lot and I (personally) don't think it is for the better. Too few mega companies control pretty much all the games we play nowadays, and there's a lot less creativity compared to games from 7+ years ago. What has changed? What do you guys think? Let me know in the comments your thoughts what can be done to solve this issue! :)

I understand mobile gaming “dying” is obviously a bold statement, and in reality we talk more about how it’s starting to head in the wrong direction. However, it could indeed start to “die” if it keeps going on this path, hence the title of the video. What do you think? Discuss in the comments! 🤔

Mobile gaming is in right direction but BR games are in wrong direction. Mobile gamers don't wants BR games. We want non br mobile games. Take the example of Solo Leveling Arise and Contest Of Champion. They are successful as they are fighting games. See mobile players wants non BR and Non shooting game

Nowadays, games that last are simply those that can be milked for money. The likes of CoDM and PG3D turned into little more than cash cows now, anything that doesn't make a bank, becomes forgotten by the devs....

@@TheHopelessThrumbo cod mobile isn't the mobile game. That game was created to earn money. So we can't call them mobile games. P33D isn't a mobile game either. Please try to understand that you can't call a game the mobile game because it's available in playstore/ iOS store for download. There are 28 fundamentals a game has to follow to be called a mobile game. So failure of cod mobile and other br games can't be called as failure of mobile games as they aren't mobile games

I personally have never see "mobile" (more precisely: smartphone) is a good platform for gaming from the start. It's even not ergonomically designed for gaming. The problem arises because players can have much cheaper options to do in game transactions in mobile games compared to the other platforms. So they bought things, and because they bought, mobile games become more lucrative to the publishers.

Take the example of Clash Of Clan, I am playing it from past 7 years and I still love it today. I will keep playing it for 20 more years as that game has that much content to play

Well that's a given , buying consoles and high end PC's are just not worth it here because why waste more money when you can just play well enough on a portable device like a phone. And with improvements in phone specs every year and their affordable prices it just makes more sense to buy a phone whether it's for gaming or just work related stuff.

@@haveahappyday2151 Thats half of the equation. I have family that lives in Vietnam and spoke to many people in Indonesia or Thailand from gaming with them. Its culture compared to the west. People love going out to hangout with friends, going to cafes / restaurants / parks / beaches, etc. and being able to play games on the go while enjoying life, scenery, food, etc. Us? We love to spend big money and stay in a box separating social life with our entertainment life.

The real reason why mobile gaming is dying is because mobile games demand high specs. Therefore, people will need to shell out at least 900 to 1000 USD dollars which is almost the same as a PC! Why spend that amount when you can get a PC and play way more quality games? It's pretty dumb to spend that much just to play games with ps2-nintendo switch graphics

This doesn’t make sense, phones aren’t something like a console. PS5 and Xbox series consoles are both dry and buying a pc is definitely worth it. However, phones and pcs are completely different and why not spend 1,000 on a new phone especially since you’ll use it for many years if you are responsible enough to take care of it. If I’m gonna be honest playing on tablets is probably better than phones because of the bigger screen and most people play games on their phones to kill time and don’t really dedicate most of their time to game outside of waiting for something.

I agree! So many mobile games are trying to emulate a PC experience, they're beginning to lose the unique "mobile gaming experience" in the process. Games like Pixel Gun were so successful because there was nothing like it, even on PC! Single-player and multiplayer options, so much content - that was such a great game! We need more games like that in the future so mobile gaming gets back on course!

This is happening because every mobile game companys they are thinking everyone has a 1000-2000+ euro/dollar phones and not a pc that can run emulators and play mobile games and have fun with out the worry of battery life and overheating issues

Apparently games especially mobile games nowadays are mostly broken at first release and fix later, carried by marketing, these things are being normalized which is stupid. Because of these, we can't have full-fledged games that are functional, playable and fun like the good ol' days

I think Nintendo is missing a MASSIVE opportunity with mobile. I think they could make a mobile Switch to make calls and Cloud games and have chips of all the older Nintendo games and the ability to download games to the chip. To the phone from an at home box.

The 3rd most successful esports event of all time was literally of a mobile game, it was was the 2nd biggest esport event of last year too. I think mobile gaming is dying if you only see it from the perspective of the west. It's just getting better everywhere else especially in Asia. It's huge af.

Me too, I already tired with current mobile games that we have, most of them are has same concept, and hyper casual that following trend. So I decided move on to ported games and emulator like retro, PS1, and PSP game. Probably I'll gonna try emulator PS2 when I get a better phone. :P

The difference between back then when you could have fun in a game... And now. Is microtransactions. That's why mobile gaming is dying. You can't enjoy a game without bumping into a microtransaction to either progress further or to continue playing for as long as you want. Forcing gameplay time to be as little as 10mins before you have to wait for a energy system to refill or something similar. Don't know about anyone else but those microtransactions and energy systems make me uninstall the game....not to mention ad ridden games trying to force a payment.

A big thing is that 90% of your mobile gamers are playing mobile games because they don’t have money to buy a console. Where now your big games dont run smoothly on that people want to have a fun experience not a buggy experience on a game thats not even made for them if we are going to spend that much money on a phone we can afford a console the companies dont know who they are making these games for!

@@PyxlkilleZ battle royale aren't real mobile games. They are pc games models made for earning money from mobile players. Mobile games are casual and they are non BR. So you can't judge mobile gaming on the failure of BR games in mobile as BR games aren't mobile games. So don't question mobile gaming on BR game success as BR are games aren't mobile games even if they are available in playstore or in iOS store

@@mitagamingst2642 see you quit as you are playing Clash of Clan in wrong way. Play it for 10 mins each day and farm slowly. For playing Clash of Clan patience is a must. So keep self calm and stable and grind for 10 mins a day. Play it on bus stop as you waits for arrival of bus. On airport as you flight is delayed. That's how we play mobile games. That's how you enjoy mobile games

Yeah i know right?Nekki does really create this amazing games with kinda tekken vibes,but there's still some problems with their games.SF3 has too much going on like events,faction wars,raids ugh i cant really keep up like how i used to in the past back in the day when chapter 5 still not out yet.And SF Arena (AKA SF4) does not have many characters i hoping they would release new hero for like each month or 2 theres just so many SF3 character you could potentially add like Master Okada.

10:29 i disagree with this, It's not okay to release w bugs cuz that's what is currently killing console games, Console PC IPs are releasing games with bugs then slowly dropping patches and people are hating on them really bad, A mobile game tried this idea too, that game being warzone mobile, warzone mobile released with bugs and we all know how it flopped, a smaller IP doing the same would lose a player base it never had just because it wanted to get the game out there as fast as possible

Hard to agree with you when services like Apple Arcade and especially Netflix gaming exist. Netflix has been bringing high quality indie titles like sonic mania, hades, gta, and deaths door to mobile devices. Apple have innovated with their iPhones and m series iPads to allow games like Resident evil 4 remake, The division, Death stranding, and soon we will have the new Assasins creed mirage on iPhone 15 and iPad M series. These are triple A experiences NATIVE to mobile devices. It’s pretty incredible. So no, I can’t agree that “mobile gaming is dying” all evidence points to the contrary and I’m excited for the future

Big YT creators follow the money and hype, then after a month that same creator is off to another “big hyped new game” instead of sticking with a game you hyped up to your community and your community wants to see you play.. and don’t get me started on everyone hyping up Warzone Mobile

Mobile gaming is the only gaming I do and it fits my life and millions of others life so perfectly which is why it’s so popular. I’ve been playing since I was a kid on my iPod touch 2G. Now I’m 29 and I’ve never stopped, mobile is just the best place to play in my opinion. To have access to Hundreds of thousands of different games available to play anywhere anytime on the device that everyone has in their pocket? It’s perfect. I don’t even play the big AAA mobile games, the mobile exclusive games are the best type of games. Indie type games or smaller games are the best and work perfectly on mobile. I even love candy crush 😅😅 So to me and many others mobile gaming isn’t dead and never will be.

Its not just developers, it also depends on the community. People are sometimes so addicted to only one game that they don't even try others, for example pubg and free fire, but what we get as alternative is the abomination called warzone mobile. We don't have story driven games anymore other than bright memory's 30 min demo. Everything's just off about mobile gaming now.

I've been gaming since the 2000s. When Nokias where black and white with snake, balloon popper and tetris. Then I remember when Java hit the scene in mid 2006 Gameloft was the king of J2ME and it felt like 16 bit games of Then modern IPs. The 2010s were some of the most solid titles in all genres of mobile gaming. Some ambitious ports and all, with little to no ads and very little microtransactions. They were so addictive that they could be beat by grinding and skill. The bad thing is modern mobile games are loaded with ads, Microtransactions, cannot be played offline. Online only and full of dumb updates. Plus once they get delisted it's gone off the server. Older games aren't compatible with new versions of Android. Emulation is the future of mobile gaming.

I agree, those old games provides you more content than some new games nowadays. Now campaign/story driven games needs to played online, hahaha. I played I think almost all modern combat and Nova Games in the past and there's no other similar games like it anymore. All big sized games today are all online😔 I remember when I am already done with those games I searched for similar genres and nothing pops up anymore. Some indie games are worth it but most of them sucks because of funding issues etc. Cant even see a FPS campaign games on app/play store today thats not an online game.

I feel if dev's started making better open world rpg's, combat shooters even survival games (not zombies) we've had to many zombie survivor games. I'm rambling now. Long story short, stop overthinking simplicity. Take Arena Breakout for example- they focused on Tarkov's issues fixed it and took over the spotlight. And wasn't focused on the market.

The reason why FPS Offline Mobile Game, because they don't interesting even wasting time for making Mobile Game, they rather making Online FPS Mobile Games. So the only survive is Gacha Genre Games, so sad that the company like Snapdragon, Mediatek and Apple making chipset for good mobile gaming, i don't understand why company western fps mobile game like surrender to offline and paid game and change to online game. I own both, my phone, and my Nintendo switch lite except I’m bored of making videos on mobile and I don’t have something else to record like I can’t record on my switch and I wanna try recording on PC and I don’t have one sadly and I don’t have the money to buy one and yeah I agree that mobile gaming is dying.

It is crucial not to compromise the quality of these games just so that someone with a $200 phone can play them. Please accept my apologies, but I am eagerly awaiting the availability of games like GTA6 on mobile devices, even if only the latest and most powerful devices will be capable of running such a massive game.

That's why I don't invest in gacha games, free to play games or paid to win games. I only play premium games where I can play it as long as I want.

I'm believe that western including europe only focus FPS game but not Adventure or RPG or Simulator, gacha and another genre. But in eastern like asia and africa, there still playing mobile gaming. Because developer from south korea, japan, china and vietnam still exist, and mobile games not dying. So sad and i want question to western and europe: "Why western and europe not making mobile game, except supercell games, minecraft, terraria and stardew valley.

Well many of us still play mobile games especially in my country many people myself included play games like free fire PUBG mobile clash of calns etc. Warzone mobile or Activision to be more precise did betray the expectations of the fans(I thought the worst it could do was have a slow ads time like mw2 or at the most packet bursts out of nowhere but the mobile version exceeded my expectations in the worst possible way.

Well only shooter genre game is dying with few rise up in popularity hope it stay for years (....except Warzone Mobile they shoot themselves on foot during global release lol) Also not "all" mobile game is dying, gatcha genre with puzzle, open world, turn base, tower defense etc. still around for years.

I think free to play is a huge problem. Build a quality game, sell it for 40 bucks and every update is free forever. Therefore they make money buy people loving the game, which means it better be good. Unlike free to play which makes money from skins

When Exootik says overwatch mobile i get happy as a big fan of that game. Mobile gaming in the west is not doing good since majority of people there preferred PC or Console. SEA on the other hand is pretty much alive. Lots of tournas such as PUBG, CODM and MLBB. Do you know why it is alive? Because mobile gaming is affordable imo. I have a PC that can run most games in 2024 but still I prefer mobile because my friends are into mobile gaming. I don't know bout y'all but I'm not a competitive player, I just play for fun especially with my friends.

More like mobile gaming is dead in the west. Its mostly people from North America and Western Europe who aren't properly exposed to successful mobile gaming in other regions. The mobile esports of the following games are extremely successful: Mobile Legends, Arena of Valor, Honor of Kings, PUBG Mobile, Free Fire, Standoff 2 (These games are basically dead in the West). Mobile scene is successful in developing regions such as South East Asia, South Asia and South America where mobile gaming is the most accessible form of gaming, where console and PC is a luxury for them. As for developed regions, mobile gaming is successful in East Asia, the Middle East and Eastern Europe. Both China and the developed regions I mentioned also have a very large population, resulting in more potential players/customers. Mobile gaming still generates more revenue than PC and console combined.

Nowadays any PUBGM videos on RU-vid, they barely get 100k views within one week, yes it says a lot the state of mobile games nowadays. I think the peak of smartphone games era was around 2017-2020 when PUBGM and all the copies were still fresh. I think for now mobile gaming world really needs something that's groundbreaking

There's a few problems. The older titles were not online only so you could download them from anywhere and sideload them for free meaning companies got nothing for all their hard work.. That's when ads came in.. Everyone who sideloaded these games are now partly responsible for the way mobile gaming is now. Just because everyone is doing something it doesn't mean it's the right thing to do. Also with them all being online now, companies have to increase server capacity and that ain't cheap. Also codm is partly responsible for some of the indie developers shutting down.. It's just leagues ahead of any other game that's available now. Warzone mobile is just garbage unless you have an iPhone.. So that game could still fall if Android optimisation isn't fixed soon.. It's a good way off too because it struggles on flagship androids and the gap between flagship Android and the rest is growing meaning lower end devices may never see a good version of warzone mobile. Best thing to do is let mobile gaming die and switch to console.. It's better, it's cheaper and pay2win is almost non existent.
