Wish this podcast was longer! Definitely should try to get Cody and Andrae on a cast as well. It's crazy, I actually went to high school with Cody here in Wisconsin. Awesome to see him this successful!

Super awesome podcast! My summit viper is pretty sweet, when I pick a setup I do it methodically, almost like setting a trap. I climb up until, my gear starts leaving ground from pull up rope. Public land is easy to use other hunters to your advantage! My belief is time in woods kills more deer then anything. Hunt from seasons start to finish!!! Why wouldn’t you want to be out there anyways! Cody man you’re very real! Really enjoyed this one guys!!

Great interview with Cody, he should be doing more social media and you tube videos himself. I employ Alot of his, his dads and Dan Infalts tactics, I set up on trails, rub lines and scrapes on the edges of marshes and hard woods close to bedding. I talk to guys who think public land is devoid of deer, they tell me I haven’t seen deer on public land in 15 years. I see them every time I go out. This season I’m trying a tree saddle, to lighten my set up even more. My Lone wolf assault is too heavy, I replaced that last year with a Millennium M7 stand only 8lbs, it’s such an amazing stand for public land Mobile hunts. that’s probably going to get replaced with the Aero Hunter this year. It’s a constant evolution and learning process. Thanks for continuing to put out amazing content!

I appreciate the thought that trail cameras aren’t the end all be all to deer information. I like climbers to move around and into good/promising areas, but it’s tough to not use cameras as a crutch. Good info guys. Thank you.

Oooh, so Dan is talkin about hunting like we do out here in Northern California. We never labeled it as "mobile" huntin, it was just the way my Grandfather hunted, who taught my Dad, who then taught my younger brother and I. In fact, I've never hunted off any stand or from any blind, and I've been hunting with my Dad since I was 12yrs old in 1986 when he bought me my old Martin Warthog bow and my Win .270 Model 70 XTR Featherweight...

I understand the benefits of hunting aggressively but what if you are limited to one small tract of private land where you might only have one mature buck in the area? Is it still worth hunting aggressively at the risk of running him out of the area and then you're left with nothing to hunt other than a random during the rut?
@SomewhereInWisconsin

@krammy37
@krammy37 6 лет назад
Somewhere In Wisconsin that's always an option of course but time is of the essence for me.... Full time job, a family and the closest public isn't all that close when i can walk out my back door and go hunting
@SomewhereInWisconsin
@SomewhereInWisconsin 6 лет назад
@@krammy37 I'd probably hunt that deer more cautious then. Unless maybe it's later in the year, and you know where he lives. But, I guess if you know where he is in October you could try to kill him. What hasn't worked? Maybe try this method?
@TheHuntingPublic
@TheHuntingPublic 6 лет назад
We’d still hunt the same way as mentioned. Only difference would be the amount of times we’d hunt it and the timing. Might only hunt an area like that 2 or 3 times a year. Sitting back and observing until the time is right. But when you know there is a good one in there, go after him. If you blow it, chances are your going to learn a lot about the property to help you in future years.
@grizzledmillennial4765
@grizzledmillennial4765 6 лет назад
I'm probably going to catch a lot of flack for this but it sounds to me that he gets a track of private land, patterns the deer and then moves around according to how he has patterned the deer. To me that doesn't seem too much different than patterning deer and then setting up a stand on a spot that you've predetermined is a common area of the deer. Also many of these tactics can't be applied to many of us who do not have 10 days straight to hunt Whitetail or multiple pieces of private land. Although there is some great information here I think in trying to establish himself as somewhat of a different style Hunter, to me it doesn't seem like he does that much different. I agree trail cams can be a crutch but for those of short on time they are a good tool. Lastly i did take away some cool info on his setup, but again some of us live in states where you can't screw sreps into trees.
@TheHuntingPublic
@TheHuntingPublic 6 лет назад
The difference in Cody's hunting style vs. many private land hunters is he is much more aggressive. Instead of hunting away from bedding areas for fear of over pressuring the deer, he dives in and gets back into the thick cover where they live during the day. There will always be differences of opinion from one person to the next on what works and what does not. Best thing we can do is try to learn something every day to consistently get better. That's why we love doing these podcasts. So we can hear tons of different perspectives and come up with creative new ideas.
@grizzledmillennial4765
@grizzledmillennial4765 6 лет назад
@@TheHuntingPublic I 100% agree that it is more aggressive and there are some gems of knowledge anyone cant definitely snag from the podcast. For me it was his tree set up. But TO ME a good portion on the podcast was like listening to what a wealthy guy does when he goes on vacation. In that sure you'll learn about all the best places but doesn't mean my broke ass will get to go there lol. I like you guys because you all fall more in line with the more common denominator of hunters. Aquiring more of the average hunter (in my opinion) is how we attract more people to this lifestyle and keep it vibrant. More people shop at Walmart than boutiques. All in all GREAT podcast and keep up the great work guys!

What I don’t understand about this tactic how do you keep from bumping deer constantly. Eventually you will pressure them enough that they will just change their behavior and then what you have learned is useless.
@paulbernitt4280

Keep this content going. Tired of all the tip toe hunting to kill big bucks. Get in the woods figure out what the deer are doing and get close. Hunting isnt just about the kill. Patterning deer in a set it and forget it around stategically placed food plots is not true hunting. Nice job!
