I loved this recap because i type with my left pointer finger right middle finger and thumb for space bar, my computer teachers hated me because i couldnt type like the normal hand over keyboard method. one day had a competition on typing against my teacher cuz i was tired of hearing i typed wrong. ended up winning with my botched typing form against my teacher and she finally shut up and let me type my way lol

as someone who doesn't have much interests or talent but has an average typing speed of 130 wpm, i felt oddly proud of myself when i heard how rose's talent was purely typing. this just proves how you don't need to be good at everything, just at something you enjoy doing, and of course, it's even better if you're good at it.

My son 9 typed like this at 5 years old. Today he is the fastest typer I have ever seen in my life and he taught himself.

that reminded me of the time I was applying to be a 911 dispatcher and didn't make it because the typing portion of the job asked for 40wpm and I did 38wpm. That was almost 10 years ago, now I type 39wpm. YEAH ME!!

Typewriter collectors unite! I guess I'll say that her office typewriter is a 50s Hermes Ambassador, her national finalist opponent's machine is a Japy S18, likely a Hermes rebrand given the similarity in shape, her international competition typewriter was a pink Japy "Style" which I think was introduced in the 60s, her international finalist opponent's machine is an "ICM" rebrand of the pre-1957 Underwood SX, and her personal portable typewriter from home was an Adler Primus or Junior E which is somewhat anachronistic for the 1958 setting. Also, the typebar jam-up at 11:07 is generally a result of operator error as opposed to equipment malfunction; if you drive the machine too fast and your typing technique does not provide enough spacing between successive keystrokes, the typebars may collide and jam.

LOL, the "international" typing competition is completely bonkers. It is so much harder to type in French than it is in English because of the hyphens etc. Even if they were all typing in English, that would give the native English typists a huge advantage.

Realistically, no matter how you argue, two fingers will not beat ten, you can’t overpower it, your two index fingers will tire your hand faster due to the wider range of motion, making you slippy overtime. Typing with two fingers is an disadvantage as to typing with ten and it’s an undeniable truth, you can only pretend it isn’t. You will be slower than the normal typist but if that’s an disadvantage forced on you then youll have to accept it.

I hate this world where people seemingly expect you to become skilled at something overnight. I remember learning to touch type some three years ago, when I was still in college. It was extremely frustrating and took a ton of patience. It took me like 15 minutes to write four lines at first, because I was still familiarizing my fingers to find the right keys without looking at the keyboard. Today, I have written this entire paragraph in under 2 minutes without looking at the keyboard once.

I know this dates me. I learned to type on an IBM Selectric Typewriter. All you who have never had the joy of using an actual typewriter (centering by math and not by computer) you should have such an experience. Typewriters will "jam" if you press the keys too fast. The keys will do just that. They wlll meet and hold each other. Typing on an actual typewriter is an amazing skill.

I'm a 2 finger typer... I've maxed out at 117 WPM. I played alot of type racing games though and that sure helped. I can use both hands on QWERTY keyboards but that brings me down to around 80 WPM

I never had any lessons, but ended up typing far beyond the speed of my mom who is also fast, but had lessons. When I was in school, there were no computers. However, writing books, coding games, etc ended up accidentally training me. I never learn anything I'm not interested in. So since I love making games, writing and more, I ended up enjoying it and boom!

That’s strange because I was just talking to my boss about this. My father used to type with two pretty large fingers. He said I hunt and peck kid. He typed close to 90 words a minute without really trying too hard. And he never made mistakes. It just seemed to be more comfortable for him. But he wasn’t as cute as she is! 😄

I type with two fingers, but I'm fast enough because to pass my intro to technology class we had to type at least 60 words per minute 😂 When I tried to position my fingers correctly, I was literally hitting like 15 words per minute because I kept having to go back and backspace.

Many years ago, I worked in the basement of a bank working on a ten key machine that printed the amount of the check in magnetic ink so it could be batched process. One woman had long fingernails and used only one finger to process the checks. She was the fastest out of everybody...with fewest mistakes.
