Okay so the character's gimmick is way less complex than what you could imagine, lol. Basically on a new floor, you lose 40% (rounded up) of the total number of items you took on the last floor, and this can take any item at all from your inventory, except the ones you used Deus Custodia on (also you can use deus on a held item similar to Void :P). Using Deus Custodia also removes that item entirely from the item loss formula, so the mod treats as if you didn't take it at all, there's a bunch more in-depth information listed in the Encyclopedia mod if you need it, for the mod's items as well. tl;dr: taking items makes you lose random items next floor, except items grabbed by deus custodia.

Hutts! There's a mod that makes the devil room door switch to a angel room door, then back again every second like soul of Isaac! I believe it's called duality room fix, something along those lines. Edit: it's called Duality Deal Fix!

So the way Tainted Job works, you get double item pedestals. Pretty nice. But, every new floor you lose an amount of items roughly equal to half of the items you took on the previous floor. Not your total items, just how many you picked up. And it can take any item out of your inventory. Using Deus Custodia on an item just guarantees it can't be taken from you. Just that item. The one the targeter is on.

@@mohamedfrahat363 It rounds up, so pretty sure it would take one item at random. As far as I know at least. I haven't tested it with exactly one item, but if you take an odd number it rounds up.

I really like this characters mechanics in concept, its just that without any guidance or looking into the mod he does seem confusing. It basically just is playing with damocles but instead of the risk of the run ending at random if you get hit at all, instead you just lose an amount of items of at the start of each floor based on a percent of how many you took the last floor, except the protected items you have used deus custodia on. So you have to be selective on what you take with deus, using it only on really really good items like godhead, echo chamber, polyphemus, any large dmg up or other run making item and then just take the rest of the items without deus and if you get to the point where you know you can beat the run from there stop taking things if you don't want to lose items, and if your on the chest you can just take everything without deus and if you get a void portal hope you don't lose anything to good.

Basically, as far as I understand, each time you enter a new floor as Tainted Job, you lose half the amount of items you took from the all of your items. Example: you take 5 items, on the next floor you lose 2. Castodia prevent's items from being taken at the cost of a broken heart. Pretty cool mechanic overall

Im pretty sure it just randomizes from 1-4 items, the “Deus Custodia’d” item are protected from this curse, and only the itmes marked by the big red cross, not the entire room, might be wrong tho. Its all i know

If we are already talking about a crazy boss in something like this, why not take a page out of risk of rain 2 s book and make the boss that uses the items it steals from you? This would then exempt the items you desu custodia'd, keeping those to yourself and every percentage of the bosses health it gives you some of the items back, but gets harder. Feel like, this could be awesome ^^

I would call him the "despairing" or the "resigned" to reference how this job gave up on god after all of his struggles, to show how this one is "tainted".

He's called the Unwavering because of the polar opposite, even after getting to this point, Job stayed determined and his faith remained strong, with enough resolve to keep going forward. Deus Custodia is also a reference to this, the description "Remnants of his aid" reflects the flickering faith Job still has for God, which will never vanish.

Oh. I thought he gave up on god in this alternate character, and only has a bit of faith left and thus only a bit of determination to go on left. That's my interpretation at least.

@@jasonbrose6743 Nope it's literally the opposite, the tainted version reflects Job's story, as in the devil taking everything from him, but God providing him with also double of everything he had prior to losing his protection. It's an interpretation at least, in the mod you go back and forth between the two sides because otherwise it wouldn't have been very interesting to play.

It's an easter egg for a funny interaction with Deus Custodia, it just happened to trigger on every out of bounds room because I'm bad at modding.

Interesting mechanic, very interesting. So if you have 20 items, and on your current floor you picked up 10 new ones, then you'll lose 40% (4) items at the start of the next floor, but the 4 you lose could be _any_ of the ones in your (now 30) item pool, not just from the 10 you just picked up. Except of course for any items you used your Deus item on. So if you've used deus on 2 items, then you would lose 4 items from the pool of your 28 remaining un-deus'd items.

About halfway in the I think I know what his gimmick is, he gets double items but all items have a chance of being removed on the next floor. If you keep an item it becomes locked, and using deus custodia, at the cost of a broken heart guarantees you keep the item.

Job is the story of a man who lost everything to the devil because God made a bet on Job's livelihood and faith. The fact that the gimmick with this character is that a demon will periodically take your shit, that fits really well. Well done mod creator

I think the way that character works is that the demon takes half as many items as you took on the last floor(if you took an uneven number of items it rounds up to the lower digit and the items the demon takes seem to be chosen randomly from all the items you have) and my best guess for deus custodia is that it just protects the items chosen from being taken at all

Hey hutts heres a challenge for you to do. So play as jacob and esau (only 2 hearts for both of them) both have characters have pluto. 2.34 fire rate and 2.21 DMG go to mother and only angel deals. And 3.50 range and 0.80 shot speed. Really hoping to see this custom challenge on the channel. Cheers! 😃👍

Deus Custodia means God guard, which means it guards the items you used it on from being taken from the depths, hence the "Remnant of his aid" alternate name

You loose 40% of the total you took from the previous floor, the items taken can be completely random, not the exact items taken from the previous floor. Using custodia on an item sets that item aside. So if you take 6 items from a floor, use custodia on 2 of those 6, on the next floor the number of random items you will lose is 40% rounded down . So in short you lose 1 Completely random item from your inventory with the exception of ANY item you have used custodia on.
