I integrated some more mods and I really like what they do! A.D.E.G.A. is another big texture mod pack with some great looking textures in it, though I load it prior to ATO so ATO overwrites. Aydin's Grass is very nice. Arrival is one of the more gameplay modifying mods I have installed, as it changes radiation pretty substantially to make it more dangerous, and adds many new anomaly types and behaviors. It's one of the coolest mods I've tried! Really fun gameplay that can surprise you in cool ways. Like these weird trap anomalies that warped in a ton of poltergeists all over the area. They were out there all the way back by Forester, it was bedlam!
I'm getting the performance to visuals tuned. Ideally I'd love to be at 60 FPS constantly, but some of the visual options can be momentarily much more demanding, so it becomes a trade-off between how good do I want it to look most of the time, versus how good do I require it to perform in the worst possible case scenario. Using the on-board recording hardware on my 3080 12GB usually doesn't incur a performance penalty, but when it's at its full power (which is hardware limited to around 340-350W) the transcoding actually hurts my FPS. I may need to look into having my CPU do the transcoding.
I wish I'd kept recording - this just got crazier, more of them showed up, and then I got attacked by some Monolith and a pack of zombies (because Sin and a huge herd of poltergeists wasn't enough I guess!).
Getting back into Anomaly and learning to mod it has reconfirmed for me yet again, there just is not another series like S.T.A.L.K.E.R.! I'm SO EXCITED for S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2! 17 years since SHoC, they almost have it over the line now. You bet I'll be in the Zone in that game the moment I can.

Anomaly with an Xbox Controller:
I use an app called Xpadder which remaps controller presses to keyboard input. It costs $9.99 which I paid 12 years ago and which has let me get every update since. It is one of my favorite gaming tools and has let me play lots of games that didn't natively support controllers, the way I want to.
