Thank you for showing this. After watching it, I definitely do not want to do this conversion. It requires too much disassembly. THe LUMIX cameras I've been doing are much easier to work on.

What is the device you’re using with the gauge that holds the components down?

It's a simple metal stand with a dial gauge.

If they will use it for astro its needed. For full spectrum maybe not. @@ryanleethomas

It's called a dial indicator. It's used to measure small distances. In this case I think he's measuring the height of the board to calculate the flatness of the sensor board to make sure the sensor is aligned correctly. I could be wrong though.

99% sure this is mine you're taking apart here. I do have a small complaint long after the fact. There's a bunch of dust/debris on the sensor that seems to be under the replacement glass. I've tried cleaning the sensor several times to no avail, so I'm pretty sure it's stuck under something. I gotta photoshop that out in every single photo. It's a pain but not the worst thing in the world. Excellent job otherwise. The camera performs flawlessly. I have an image from it currently in an art show and one hanging on my wall.

There is nothing for the dust to stuck under. If you can't get it out with a sensor swab you should try Canon software. The camera has Dust Delete Data option. I suspect it will remove those dots from pictures.

@@RemusLt What canon software? I believe you told me the dust delete data option doesn't work anymore after the conversion. I've tried cleaning it 3 times. It looks flawless, but some spots show up every time.

@@sklba632 Dust Delete Data is separate from Cleaning Sensor. You need to read about it and use with Digital Photo Professional software to supposedly remove those dust spots. I suspect it will remove spots from all pics so you do not need to do it with each one. I do not use Digital Photo Professional so do not remember now how it works. support.usa.canon.com/kb/s/article/ART136907

@@RemusLt So after much further digging, and having a second lens to compare things to, I'm 99% certain now the issue is the actual lens. There seems to be dust and even a hair stuck inside of it. Sorry about the bother, and thank you again for the great job.
