Love this board, and really wanted to pull the trigger the the price point was way too high for my taste. I don't really understand why it's so much more expensive than the sonnet SS accent / bottom.

If you refer to the Sonnet Silver Mirror bottom, that was alu not SS! I do agree that the pricepoint of the loop is a bit meh tho

@@zerotwo3084 the mirror bottom is aluminum? Why does it weigh like 3x non mirror alu? Edit: ahh I have the mode65 mirror bottom and that's polished brass. I assumed sonnet was the same! Thanks for clarifying 😊

To accurately measure and test the sound profile of a switch and a keycap, one must not only record on how they sound on a mic, but also capture the sound frequency and put it on a sound chart. As an audiophile, other audiophiles can describe how bassy, metallic or warm a headphone is, but we have biases and preferences that muddies its accuracy. So how does a thocky keyboard sound? Everybody's definition can be different, but if there is a base chart where other switches can be compared against, then it would be much clearer as there would be a baseline and reference. Not only does it capture the low frequency of the thock, but also the high frequency of the pings. We take away the black magic of hype, and put science in measuring it.

I've been using a steelseries 6gv2 for more than a decade now are the switches from that the same as this? Both are Cherry MX Blacks but I feel the one in this video sound a bit clickier/louder

They’re the same switches yes, these are a newer variant of them though. They only sound so much better because of all the variables in his setup, including the board itself, the microphone he uses, desk and other acoustic treatment methods.

Not to mention, even the headphones/speakers you’re using greatly influence how you perceive the sound. So while it sounds great it’s definitely not how the switches will objectively sound in your hands.

Also, switches are less of a keyboard’s sound than you may think. The keyboard in this video is the mode loop, which will run you about $400-$700. This specific one is made of aluminum with a solid brass weight - which are the factors I assume are making the switches sound more resonant.

Changing the switch/plate can get you more clacky results!

Cherry Mx blacks are very clacky by themselves and aluminum plate just makes it clackier

@@Zubreeh I’m not taeha but it’s usually gasket mount. It’s not inherently bouncy (gummy o rings are more like that) but it’s easier to make bouncy.

ricoh GRIII its a beast of a camera i love mine. hard to find but def worth it. its missing the in body flash so if you want a built in flash either the grii is just as good
