I got my Model 3 back from Tesla service and it has Autopilot Hardware 3 now! However, interacting with Tesla service is never that simple... so, what else happened?

I hope in the future Tesla will have a Service Center in Santa Clarita so that people in Palmdale and Lancaster don't have to drive all the way to Van Nuys and Burbank.

@@AlexVenz Yep. There's a lot of space in Santa Clarita that Tesla can take advantage for Service Center. Van Nuys and Burbank is very small and very crowded. Tesla Service Center is not evolving anymore along with their road side assistance in my opinion.

When I brought in my Model 3 for the FSD retrofit, the car was ready for pickup same day from the Van Nuys service center - completely painless experience vs Santa Monica's team which forgot to plug my rear brake lights back in after replacement.

lol waste of money! old tesla cars will not fully support FSD. FSD wont work until Tesla releases a car that says FSD. not FSD beta.

My installation was done on the same day, but every single user setting was erased. It wasn’t too much trouble starting over because I knew exactly how I wanted it set up.

i so envy you. i got my Model 3 SR+ with FSD in August 2019 in Poland,Europe and i discovered i have only hw 2,5 on board. No plans to upgrade it in Europe yet

Question: When one pedal driving (not using Autopilot), how soon do the brake lights come on after one lifts one's foot off the accelerator? What about traveling downhill? I assume they do not come on until a certain amount of speed is lost over a relatively short period of time.

I think that my brake lights come on every time that I have any regenerative braking.

@@pvman2 Definitely, I’ve seen Teslas driving and I thought that it was weird how much they were using their brakes!

Still waiting for it. (Model 3 LR AWD March 19) But im not rushing to get it... Not much use in Germany anyway, at least at the moment. :D

I have a LR AWD purchased in Nov 2018 with EAP....later upgraded to FSD for the $2,000...still waiting to hear from Tesla about swapping out the computer.

I'm not sure what the reasoning is behind how Tesla is going about the computer upgrades. My Model 3 is older than yours, but I know a bunch of people with much newer *and* older cars who were contacted about their upgrade months ago.

Did they mention if HW3 needs to be liquid cooled? I’ve read conflicting reports saying yes and no. Still haven’t scheduled time for my retrofit yet but I probably should as I have some other minor things I want them to look at. Does HW3 seem more smooth and confident in Autopilot?

HW3 operates within the same thermal envelope as HW2.5, so "need" is kind of an odd angle to approach this. In the case of the Model 3, there aren't really provisions for an air cooled solution (already have coolant lines coming through the firewall to cool the Autopilot/infotainment compute package, space was designed for the liquid cooled package, etc.)
