Instructional DVD included with all sales of 4411 and 4423 Sewing Machines in Australia. this video is filmed in America and not all parts reflect Australian models .
I am finally taking sewing seriously now at 55 years old and am so happy to get all the help on my heavy duty 4423 machine. Please everyone, don't wait till yours eyes start to get bad to take sewing seriously. Start at least when you are a teenager.
We got one today, it arrived just in time for Mother’s Day. Mom and I had a test run on it already, but when I showed her the video with the automatic needle threading and automatic button whole, she lost it. We’re so excited!! 😛
I am so in love with this machine. This video is above and beyond useful. I cannot wait to try a few new things and projects. One of these days I will try quilting. I'm trying simple clothing and home decor.
I have used the 4423 for years. Works well; versatile. Performed well even without any knowledge at all. This video is very helpful - the proper use of the machine can be difficult. This video taught me many things in fact 😅
@@niniokojie6857 I woul. It is a durable and complete machine. I've not experienced much problems with thread cutting - at any rate the thread tension can be adjusted and so even this issue is considered and within control.
For the price, this is one hell of a machine - Power, features, ease of use, quite, light weight, and just plain fun to use without all the fuse and useless do-dads. I've been sewing for some 40+ years, both professionally and leisurely, and this is the best for overall performance and economy. I have some five machines including a serger, but I go to this one when I just need the job done!
Listening to this lady is the first time I threaded my machine without using a magnifying glass. I couldn’t figure it out but I got it tonight. She is really good!!!!
thank for your help. I actually put my sewing machine aside for the past few years because i didnt know how to make it right . after watching this now i am back to use it with a beautiful sew. THank you
@@drunkbetch7813 i started with a Janome so that i can learn but after feeling more comfortable, i bought the Heavy Duty just because you can sew a variety types of materials
@@roselyneakinyi8977 i am in South Africa, Gauteng. i bought it at Metro Lifestyle Shop which is a store that sells homeware, decor, appliances, fashion, fabrics and sewing machines
Thanks for video found threading the 4423 machine a lot easier than trying to read instructions also a lot more explicit. Will definitely be watching video many more times. First sewing machine ever.
I bought my first Singer 40 years ago. It was a little gem made beautifully in Poland. I took one beginners course and from there I took off and with Vogue patterns I made my clothes. The problem is that stores in Chicago sell nothing but fabrics designed for crafting. I want to make clothes not just pillows. Anyway... I think I’m going to purchase this machine.
Im so happy this video exists, it's really well made and super helpful! This Singer is my first new machine (i had two secondhand machine, one was from 1985 (i still really like it but theres no available instructions) and one was essentially a toy), and this one is an absolute game changer, what used to take hours takes minutes on this bad boy and honestly im happy as a mouse in a cheese factory
Thank you so much for this very helpful video. I got to know my singer 4423 a whole lot more. I love it!!! I just purchased this one bc my other machine singer baby gave up on me after 12 yrs of sewing on it.
Incredible instruction has given me the guide I so desperately needed. Thanks and do not remove because I need to refer to it from time to time. Thanks.
Finally I have found the video I've been looking for! Learning/ watching from you is much appreciated. I was given a used machine with no manual. Thanks for showing what I needed to know!
You made it so easy and in details of what to do with this wonderful sewing machine and I found it easy with your broadcast video and I can't thank you enough now I can turn up my trousers and denim jeans with sheer ease and I have sewn the hems of my daughters nurse trousers and I am well impressed that it looks perfectly professional and I cant thank you enough with the fact that you have made it clear and easy to use this machine and thanks again 😁👍
I’m utterly totally lost & defeated at this. I can’t figure it out. It’s SO hard!! So many moving parts! I am a man that can totally rebuild an entire engine in a car but I can’t thread a damn sewing machine. 😞😞😞 ..........Update. I got my wife to do it. She figured it all out no problem. I should have known. 🙄🙄
In this video, that presser foot was not snapped on. 04:01 This is also really good to have on RU-vid encase the disk is broken or lost and in my case, I'm thinking of buying one of the three models.
Hi. I got this machine about 2 years ago, it's not as "heavy duty" as I thought it was (I sew faux leather) but It's been in use almost every day since the pandemic ( making masks) and it's a work horse. I love My machine!
@@niniokojie6857 for a small volume business you can certainly use this as it's affordable. But if you are a large enterprise? I recommend commercial machines. I have no problems with threads breaking. If you have very bulky fabrics? Just slow down the machine. Since I use it every day, I take it in for tune up every 6 months or so. Good Luck
This is a fantastic video - thank you! I just sorted out the tension issues on my 4411, that were driving me nuts and basically preventing me from sewing.
I absolutely LOVE my new 443 Heavy duty! It's been a number of years, (10 to be exact) since I've gotten behind a machine and getting behind this one made it feel like I have been doing it daily. I came from using a Remington from the late 80s so I was kind of intimidated getting behind my new machine. I was out at ease in minutes. This video unlocked the true potential of my machine vastly expanding the horizon of my limited sewing ability. Thank you for not only a great video, but thank you for an amazing machine!
Note I have changed my battery bulb light to the NEW VERSION OF L.E.D LIGHT ON MY SINGER HEAVY DUTY SEWING MACHINE AND I RECOMMEND THIS FOR ALL THE HEAVY DUTY SEWING MACHINES AS IT MAKES EVERYTHING 100% EASIER WHEN YOU THREAD THE NEEDLE AND SEW STITCHING AND GOOD LUCK 😁👍
Hi. Is it possible to adjust the stitch length with the stretch stitches, or decorative stitches ( on the 4432), or are they fixed at a standard small size?
Thanks for this the video is pretty clear but in a few places like threading the tension groove it’s not film slowly or close enough or well enough explained to be absolutely crystal clear where the thread should go. So I fear a complete beginner maybe confused even as an experienced sewer like me had to go online to find better photos for the threading the machine. I would suggest it’s useful to do that if you just got this as your first machine in addition to watching this it misses out the part about looping past the metal on the downwards groove. My old singer which I had 40+ years is not working well despite full service I have to keep messing with the feed dogs and tension so I have just brought this one hoping it last half as long as that one did.
Hi Craig Famly, if you have any issues please do not hesitate to contact Singer Australia direct at info@singerco.com.au or call us on (02) 8811 1900. Happy Sewing!!
I had the gathering thread issue, and for the life of me couldn't figure it out! I'll have to try it in the morning, but I think I didn't pull the bobbin thread up correctly 😂🤦🏼♀️
For bobbin winding you do not have to use the pre-tension spring, go straight from spool holder to thread guide and then to tension discs and on to bobbin winder.
Hey there Mike, You are correct in mentioning that you don't have to use the pre-tension spring. Although it is not necessary, it provides extra stability for the thread while winding your bobbin. :)
Years ago I had a leather wheel instead of the presser foot, and that made easy work of leather. Now I use either silicone spray or tissue paper to stop it sticking. You should test silicone spray to ensure it won’t stain. It can be a long job picking tissue paper out from between stitches. Newspaper works too, but see a few stitches through sandpaper after because it blunts the needle.
Thank you! Can I go from forward stitching to rearward stitching and back again without stopping the movement of the stitching before changing direction?
Hi Weeral, Congratulations on purchasing your first machine! If you have any questions you can contact Singer Australia directly via info@singerco.com.au or alternatively if you are contacting outside of Australia you can contact your local Singer. www.singer.com/country-selector
Hello, one very important question, can i use this machine on silk or chiffon or any other very thin fabrics? If i can do i need a specific type of needle or foot? Thank you!
I just watched a RU-vid video of a person using the roller foot with chiffon (surprising, as a roller foot is usually used with thick and bulky or textured fabrics!).
Help!!!!!! What kind of thread and needle should I use for leather sewing of 2mm thickness? I tried bonded nylon but it is not feeding. It wouldn't sew.
Hi Jemima, If you are using a leather needle (2032) you should be fine. Can you confirm which needle you were using? singerco.com.au/product/leather-needles/
Raising my bobbin thread doesn’t work as shown on the video Everything else so far has been very easy and the video helps a lot, but I’m stuck on raising bobbin thread, I have it hooked through the tensioner and thread to the back, but it’s not caught and picked up when I hand turn the wheel
On my 4423, that plastic lid near(bobbin cover) keeps popping up with the slightest touch. I don't even need to use the black bit in order to release it. Is that normal? It is also raised up a little on one side.. Can you help?
Hi Peter, we think you might be missing the tensions disc when threading. When you thread the machine, hold the thread at the top near the spool and 'floss' it through the tension disc to ensure you are fully engaging it. We would also recommend you change your needle as the incorrect needle for the job can cause this issue as well!
Hi Saima, you can ask for a service technician to replace the lightbulb, or if you feel confident you can remove the screw on the end of the sewing arm and open the case. You can easily access the lightbulb once the end of the casing is removed.
hi, thank you for this great video! i like the singer 4423 heavy duty, but mine has a foot control cable, that is way too short to sit and sew ergonomically: only 125 cm from the machine to the footcontrol. how long is yours, how long should it be?
If it’s vibrating too much, the needle might be the wrong one for the kind of fabric you’re trying to sew. Perhaps try a different one? There’s all kind of needles gauges…
Hey Jah, The speed adjustment is controlled on the mechanical sewing machines by the foot control. You are only able to control the speed with the speed adjustment lever on our Computerised Range.
