It’s that this type of fashion is not necessarily a highly complex concept or storied art piece but demands that it be taken as such while waving a sticker price and upholding a culture of exclusion. The commentary of shoes as bold means of play in fashion is valid, but after awarding it an inflated intrinsic value and being showcased as an exclusive designer art piece, you can’t help but be reminded the whole time - *they’re just rubber balloons…on your feet.* What a revelation…

There's a lot of humour in high fashion! But this seems to be lost in translation for the folks not familiar with it. Pretty often it's not all that serious, rather stupid funny mixed with seriousness. Kinda like in metal music. If you don't listen to it you think it's just angry and serious. But when you're in the scene you understand all this silliness and nuance.

There are so many urban Asians that speak similarly to urban black people. Anyone can naturally take up any dialect if they are exposed to it long enough.

If you are around it when you are growing up or for a long period of time you are going to take on that dialect. Idk your life and how long you were around your Cubans. But if it were for many years during your youth then it's likely you do have some tendencies that even you don't pick up on. The way you continue to describe this situation makes it sound like you think black ppl naturally speak AAVE and come out the womb with it and it cant be changed. It doesn't make any sense. Dialect and language is literally just about location. It has nothing to do with race beyond the fact that large monoliths of people with similar culture tend to stay around each other. Let me ask you, if an Asian child is raised in a predominately black urban area where all she hears is AAVE, what do you think her speech is going to sound like? It's not going to randomly becoming an Asian dialect, lol.
