Hi Paul, my name is Giuseppe and I'm writing from Italy; I started a short time ago with ship modeling and now I'm building the Endeavour scale 1:60. I have a question about the blocks, like you now they can be single, double or tripple holed and in different sizes. Now the matter is that I have a table chart where I can find the dimension of the rope I have to use going through the pulleys, but to determine the size of the rope that I have to use for the strops (the rope that's wrapped arround the block and usually have a hook attached on an eye), how should I do? I hope you'll reply, since a week could not get an answer to this question Ciao Giuseppe

Hi Giuseppe, I'm so sorry that I can't help you but there is no way I can advise on the size of the rope you need for strops. But I hope someone on my channel can advise you.

Don't worry Paul, yesterday a russian modeller wrote me that the information can be found in the book Historic Ship Models - Wolfram Mondfeld on page 242. This book can be found on the Internet in free access. drive.google.com/open?id=0B1BM6Q0Chgt8aVU0Rmt1YkdGMnc There is a table where the thickness of the sling is indicated, depending on the block size. The thickness of the strop is approximately equal to the thickness of the rope passing through the block.

That's great news, I happen to live in the city (Fremantle Western Australia) where the full size replica of the Endeavour was built. I watched it built from the keel up. And I was there on launch day. And I have sailed on her.
