Coming back to this video after my first live show in October I definitely prefer Live shows over photo shows. I liked seeing my models get judged and place. Photo shows is what got me into showing and I'll still show in them but I definitely prefer live
First of all, I really love your fingernails , girl! Secondly, I highly agree with you that Live Model Horse Shows are much better than Photo Shows! And third, Congratulations on the Ribbons from all the Live Model Horse Shows! I really hope to meet you in person at a Live Model Horse Show sometime! What Region are you in? I am in Region 1.
I honestly love both live and photo shows lol. I definitely love live showing, but I live in a state that doesn't have many shows so I typically have to travel for an hour or more (and often need to get a hotel for the night). Just due to the travel time and taking time off of work, I maybe get to go to 1 or 2 live shows per year so I do appreciate that I can do more photo shows per year! If I had more time and money, I'd definitely like to travel to more live shows! My biggest con with photo shows is often the judging. I've noticed an unfortunate rise in favoritism (whether that be favoritism for certain showers or certain models that may not be the most breed accurate) among some judges. It is nice that photo shows allow more hobbyists to get judging experience though!
I very much prefer live shows instead of photo shows. I rather enjoy all the work and planning and prep to attend a live show because it keeps me busy and gives me something to do.
Definitely live shows! I've done a bunch of photo shows in the past but have only done a few during quarantine! There are so many to choose from it's kind of overwhelming. And I don't have a proper photo booth setup so I've ended up being limited to certain times of day/weather conditions that work better for taking pics regardless of my indoor lighting (living room where I do my photos has a lot of windows). I've applied to judge for BF Open (hoping to get collectibility since that's my favorite!) but if I don't get in for that I might consider buying a good photo tent and/or a decent ring light(s) on Amazon to improve my pics, maybe I'll enter the show? Still not sure yet!
