“The godly may trip seven times, but they will get up again.
But one disaster is enough to overthrow the wicked.
Don’t rejoice when your enemies fall;
don’t be happy when they stumble.
For the Lord will be displeased with you
and will turn his anger away from them.
Don’t fret because of evildoers;
don’t envy the wicked.”

Great job Jimmy, thanks for sharing the way you do ground cover around your structures. That’s a very helpful way to do that. Looking forward to seeing more great videos and helpful hints. Thanks for sharing.

Jimmy, your viewers need to be aware that your rock painting technique is appropriate for the geology you are modeling - presumably a fairly monolithic light granite. Modelers who want more variegated rocks should apply additional washes before the India ink: I suggest yellow ochre, dark gray, raw umber, and (sparingly!) burnt or raw sienna. Allow the washes to dry in between colors to avoid muddy colors. If your final rocks are dark colored, dry brush (VERY DRY) an off white color to highlight the raised features of the rocks. Remember, plaster is CHEAP. Next time you are casting rocks, cast an extra dozen and practice your painting techniques at your work bench. You'll find a method and color combination that works for you, and you'll have a bunch of colored rocks that you can place almost anywhere on your layout.

All the videos I have been watching has given me confidents to be able to ballast me layout when I get to building it. I also like the puff ball tree's. Thanks for great video. The layout is looking great. GOD BLESS 🚂💖🚂💖🚂💖

I really love your videos and your approach to model railroading. I think of this as being model railroading for the rest of us. No perfectionism, no rivet counting. Just some really good modeling. To me, this is the best way to do it. Even though I have been in this hobby (on and off) for over 30 years, I still have much to learn, and believe it or not, this is the channel I turn to most often for inspiration. By the way, at the end of your videos when you say, "Be kind...." I always think that one day you are going to say, " Be kind and Rewind." All right, enough rambling from me. Time ta get in there and work on my little 2X3 foot N Scale layout.

Tip for cheap dirt, especially if your backyard or location can’t provide you with some. Take a look at a local adobe or loam stucco supplier. They often also sell small batches for repair purposes. Comes in different natural colors. Most dirt we can find or purchase is in fact nothing else than the fine clay particles from the adobe.

Very nice Jimmy. Interesting to see the amount of ground foam you used around the rocks. It works. Also delighted to see a Safmarine container. I lived in South Africa for many years a long time ago so this was a great memory. 🇿🇦🇧🇫

Or have you come over and help me do it lol just kidding!!!! I do need to re do my rocks around the track to make it look better I hope:). Great video and thanks so much for this one!!!!!

very informative video, will have to try settling the structure in ground cover technic. I use Kato track also and it looked to me you did not cover the switch machine I lost a good turn out when scenic glue solution got into the mechanism. Have you ever tried alcohol inks for washes and filters? Enjoying your channel.

Great job Jimmy. I'm definitely going to use your ballasting technique for some of my not so used yard rails. Hopefully that will bring a little bit more aged effect to those areas.

Wow, you use a lot of ballast at once, if use dirt or sand you just have to put a thin layer of ballast or grass on top, then you aren't using as much product, to cut some cost

Hey I got a question, so im planning to add an addition to my layout and I am wondering what is the best way to connect the two tables? ive seen some people say with alignment dowel pins or my dad suggesting with L brackets but not sure if that might make a gap in between the two.

I use 1/4" bolts, nuts, and washers. Makes a nice tight joint. Don't forget to drill holes for wiring while you're under there!
@NJP76
@NJP76 2 года назад
@@timwright3592 That is my preferred method as well. I use carriage bolts with wing nuts, just for convenience sake. I also attach the legs and bracing that way. Great point about the holes for wiring. It is amazing hoe much wiring can accumulate under even a small layout.

Hi Jimmy, You did something in this episode I have been whining about for years. After you completed your desired layout work THEN you showed it off in an OPS Session. THANK YOU. If you find yourself doing a build tutorial that arches multiple eps. please continue to do each subject individually. Then pull it all together with a running session showing what you've accomplished. This technique will not only bookend your progress, it will more clearly tell the lines story. Now the ask. You were talking of the expense of our hobby. As you are the DIY~3D King why not develop a few episodes on 3D printing RxR cars. The skins should be simple. The trucks & chassis especially will be difficult. And WILL need A LOT of TRIAL & ERROR EXPERIENCE. But the end result will reduce a Model Rail Road Barron's budget. I haven't posted about this much. But in Dec. & Jan. I had a heart attack and rehab recovery. One of my RxR Club members 3D printed 10 circus train stock. Though there hasn't been a NVR/WAS Ops. Session since March 2021 I have these cars on cabinet display in my home bar room. As soon as able my friend is going to teach me how he does his set-up and printing. I'm thinking of adding it to my bag of Gandy Dancer Tricks. My love to Mrs. DIY and extra hugs to the DIY DYNAMIC DUO.🦸‍♀️🧚 Jim
