Now that's some modeling technique! I'm amazed at how creatively you use the built-in tools as well as the add-on's. Several times you got me like "wait, I can actually do that?" ;)

I've been working on content for youtube myself... and thats a great idea for timelapses. If you run them at 4 times the speed, someone can watch them at .25 if they want it in real time :D How have I never thought of that? this might be the first comment in youtube history that actually helped me with something :D

I found your channel by accident, and ngl, this is a lovely video. The pace is perfect for non-advanced users like me who are in a position in which follow-along/step by step videos are counterproductive, but at the same time, still need to see the works of someone who knows what they are doing

That wheel outside the tread, on the bottom. Just think about what direction that wheel would turn if the treads started moving.

That's amazing, I follow you on twitter since last year and my god you are so fluent with those addons, I have the same level as you but I'm always trying to be perfect and do all quads so now I don't have the motivation to create because of that perfectionism, and again congrats, your work is amazing Syns

If I'm doing a model for a client for a video game or something I'll perfect the quads. But this is just fun modeling and I like to improve with speed and design so topo perfection falls to the side. My modeling is very chaotic here but I did finish the model in about 5-6 hours, but that's just how I like to work for my own art. Thanks for the kind words! :D

I have the same problem. I try to model everything with quads, without pinching, smooth surfaces... It's so exhausting and waste all my energy and motivation. Thank for your response. It feels better when you are not alone 🙂

Um, just live and breathe hardsurface. Always study and practice when you can, think about it when you aren't working. Look at the great hardsurface artists like Alex Senechal, Vitaly Bulgarov, Edon Guraziu, Tor Frick and lots of others, see how they design and really think about the form and function. I'm still learning everyday and I'm still a noob but this is what I think! Thanks!

Do you model using the reference image on the fly, or do you spend some time studying the image and design yo figure out where you're going to start on the model beforehand?

Really good modeling thanks for share :) But the most interesting part of the model is not in timelapse :( the ammo rail I mean. How do you do that?

Haha I was wondering if anyone would realize that one part wasn't in here. My recording for that section got lost. But it's a really simple ammo chain, only a bullet put on an array and then put on a curve and positioned into place, lots of tutorials about that out on youtube

@@koguister Pressing ctrl-t on a handle or point of the curve will change it's twist angle. Great feature I didn't know for the longest time!

I'm just curious, what other than renders can you use this model for? You definitely can't put it in a game, the vertex count is through the roof, so.. is it just for rendering purposes only?

I'mm watch this on 0.25% and try to follow along.. I can't figure out how to use mesh machine at all. Anything I ever try to use it on it tells me it's an illegal operation, lol.

Machin3's youtube is a great place to learn Meshmachine. It's very well documented but it did take me a few watches to get the hang of how the functions work together. :)

Not that I know of. Frick is an uncommon name but not a rare one, lots of people out there named frick. I am planning on making more video in the future, more timelapses of art and stuff.
