Saturday the 22nd of July 2023 saw the Aldridge Transport Museum host their annual model railway exhibition to which the TRMG were invited with our N gauge layout, ‘Stokesay’. The event itself did not go as planned. Gremlins within the layout caused us to have lots of problems throughout the day - loosing the passing loops, signal & station lights. Eventually, both the up & down lines were restored so we didn’t try anything clever, just ran trains. Nevertheless, there was a brilliant display of other layouts of various scales on display including ‘Hackworth’, ‘Arley’ and a very impressive replica large scale tram system. We ended on time, confused & cold but otherwise content.
The Welsh Marches Line layout is in essence Craven Arms & was bought by the club in 2014. Since then it’s done many of the high profile shows including Alexandra Palace (twice) and Peterborough. Train movements largely consist of BR blue stock with Class 25s, 37s, and 40s dominating. There are also two steam specials, the Blue Pullman and some more modern slow goods trains including a BR liveried Class 66 on a tanker train. An interesting day with a lovely setting of several vintage vehicles on display polished to perfection.
