Moderator Review-DonnyFL vs Huma Moderator in .30 cal

In this video we test the DonnyFL Sumo vs the new Huma modular moderator. We tested noise reduction, accuracy and velocity with both units before reaching a conclusion on which one we will use and recommend.
The test shooting in this video is done with an FX Crown that was set up in 25 cal, and then converted to .30 for testing. It was not tuned to the test caliber to give a better basis of comparison regarding the moderator’s impact on rifle function. The Wisconsin AirGunners recommend that all rifles be tuned to the particular accessories that will be used for either hunting, pest control or competition.
These moderators are for AIRGUN USE ONLY and are not regulated by the US Government.

I can't hear anything but the metal ringing from the pellet trap, which I really don't want to hear! I would like to hear just the gun firing and compare with my ear.

This was an Excellent video with a wealth of information. I have done many hours of personal testing with Donnyfl against anybody. I have been extremely happy with Donnyfl products and his are at a very good price. I tested for quietness first, then accuracy and finally cost. I'm a backyard shooter and my neighbors Hate noise. It's good to know that Huma moderator did well in the sound test. Thank you for sharing this information.

Stopped watching after the 4th grouping shot. Was watching to compare moderators but the ringing metal made it difficult.

I purchased a moderator from DonnyFL for my Marauder. They sent the wrong one. I contacted them. within 3 hours they replied. They told me the correct moderator was on it's way.......and to keep the first one ! They sent the correct one within 3 days + a bunch of extra goodies. That's Next Level customer service

The threshold of perception of the human ear is approximately three decibels and a five-decibel change is considered to be clearly noticeable to the ear. This is primarily due to the logarithmic measuring metric typically associated with decibels.

I love these comparison videos. The theory on the Huma doesn't explain the result to me. I.e. some small variations in speed of the gun somehow cause _huge variation_ in speed with only that moderator. Wouldn't that speed changes result in much larger POI shifts than you see? strlok or whatever you use should tell you. Could it be measurement error (how the chrono is placed in relation to the end of the barrel etc)? FX makes no accuracy claims for the Pocket Chronograph on their website, and as such, I don't think it is a creditable measurement device.

They didn't set the moderator up right. You're supposed to remove sound dampening from the first chamber or 2 on high volume guns. The internal volume is quite limited if you don't

Now why wasn't I surprised with the results? Never used the Huma, but I have a Donnyfl. I have never found anything as good as his products.

I don't think you can consider either moderator the "winner" until you optimize the setup with each moderator and the pellet that it prefers. Barrel harmonics are ALWAYS going to invalidate any accuracy test until the rifle is tuned AS PART OF A COMPLETE SYSTEM. Good work guys.

Interesting the lcs sk19 has the same looking insides as the Donny FL that comes on the gun at least it does the .25 Guess I’ll hold off from buying one for now.

I am on donnyfl website and its showing the 1/2x20in threaded version as a 25/30cal does that mean its sized to shoot both?

I remember when I bought my Ronin a while back that Donny recommended going up one size to avoid pellet clipping, so I guess now they just list it as 25/30

For me that is not true because I have all the brands and the huma is very good this can be promotion as you always do, the people of fx donnyFL and they are from fx they will not speak well of another brand 🤷🏽‍♂️ huma does not have commitment like you with fx

You should’ve put some plywood behind the target it ruined the video and the sound should be at least 50 yards from the target .we’re trying the moderator not the impact on the target

The DNR has nothing to say about it. Airguns do not qualify as firearms from either a federal or state law standpoint (in WI) therefore accessories are not regulated.
