Great video. I added the quick disconnect to my existing Tatsu moderator and it actually made it seem (not tested on decibel meter) that the perceived noise was better. Maybe the slight increase in length adds a little more chamber space for baffling the blast, I don't know. My poi changed slightly, but a couple clicks later and back in business. For my new little compact hunter Panthera with the folding stock, this new system is definitely the way to go. Excellent work DonnyFL!!!

Agree on the excellent work by DonnyFL. Really like this moderator. Sound is such a weird thing… so much of it isn’t “Loudness” like decibels, but tone, pitch, and echo. We noticed in testing the various configurations (at least one module removed) that although they all had very similar decibel readings, the perceived volume was different. Logan definitely noticed it from behind the gun as he mentioned pitch or tone regularly. I am hard of hearing AND was standing off to the side, so the perceived change was slightly less noticeable from my ear. Thanks for reaching out and for your support. We really do enjoy and appreciate everyone’s comments and feedback.

I had my eyes set on the impulse air moderators I’ve only heard good things but now I’m thinking of going with one of these the modularity with the baffles and the quick disconnect so probably going with Donny haha thanks guys always look forward to the videos.

Thank you for the support and question. I really like the machining and performance of this new Yokozuna, although it is a bit heavier than previous moderators. Great quality and being able to adjust the length (weight) will allow easier tuning for accuracy. Unfortunately, I dropped my gun twice at the beginning of my first ever 22NRL match and just made a mess of things. Back to the drawing board on tune, setup, slugs etc. It will take me some time to get it figured out again, but the process is one I really enjoy. Thank you again! ….. IMO, the new DonnyFL moderators are much more to my liking than the previous line-up. I’ll try to purchase the impulse air moderator to film comparisons, but already have 3 or 4 other videos in works. (Plus our full time jobs, life, etc…. :) )

Great video. I’m glad you talked about the weight of the moderators. My go to from Donny FL is the Sumo it is half the weight of the Ronin. In my opinion very little difference in report between the 2. And as far as harmonics the Sumo works best for me.
@bowmanoutdoors
@bowmanoutdoors 10 месяцев назад
Weight certainly plays a factor in the overall performance and I like the modularity of this system to be able to use it like a “harmonic tuner” in order to achieve the best balance for each use case. I made some great charts also, but we forgot to include them in the video and I have been unable to figure out getting them added. Thank you for your comments, feedback and support. We really appreciate it.

Great video, guys. very informative thank you very much for the info. I have a Donny Fl Sumo that I am using on my Wildcat Mk3 bt sniper. looking ahead at this one I'm liking the fact that it will not change the point of impact when it leads up like the felt-lined ones do after about two to three thousand rounds
@bowmanoutdoors
@bowmanoutdoors 10 месяцев назад
I really like this new line with the modular design. From an engineering view, this is much more technically complex than the original line-up and caliber specific, but a great advancement from Donny. Probably following the queues from other manufacturers. Being able to remove or add sections also gives some amount of tuning to the barrel. As soon as I get my base re-tuned, we will film a video of the testing and accuracy portion. Thanks for the support and comment! Really appreciate all the support we get from this great community.

dB is a logarithmic unit of measure, 1 dB lower is equivalent to 3 times quieter, so 1 dB might look like a small improvement but it is a significant improvement in loudness
@bowmanoutdoors
@bowmanoutdoors 8 месяцев назад
If there is anything I learned from this it’s that I know very little about how sound works other than there was a significant improvement when using the DonnyFL moderators. They did the trick as I am sure other manufacturers do as well. Thanks for the guidance and feedback!

@@bowmanoutdoors smh…well obviously it’s better than no suppressor at all that’s just ridiculous. And you must not be shooting high power. My regs are at 190 and 165 respectively. And the Yokozuna is no better than any of donnys other products. Tested and it’s worse than a handful of his other models.
@bowmanoutdoors
@bowmanoutdoors 10 месяцев назад
@ngirardo86 I posted the table on our IG showing the results, but you are generally correct. 20% improvement over nothing, practically same as the Shogun and all variations of Yokozuna were very close in results. The benefit comes from being able to “tune” based on how many sections are added or removed PLUS the quick disconnect which can be purchased for any of their existing models. Thanks for the feedback and comment. Check out the tables on our IG @bowman_outdoors_ga 👍🏻

I have a moderator which i bought from online flatform(Lazada) here in the philippines from china. it was marketed as a fuel trap. but as an airgun enthusiast, i know it was made for a gun silencer or moderator. it is the same set up as this yukuzona. although it is bigger 43mm in Diameter, 6 inches long. it is still loud for a .22cal 70ft-lb slug pcp. my 32mm OD 6inches long local made silencer with fiber fill is much quiter. i think the best way to silence high power air rifle is the fiber fill base in my experience

@Fuerwahrhalunke
@Fuerwahrhalunke 7 месяцев назад
It's not so much the overall volume, but with the Yokozuna it's a much more metallic and high pitched sound than with the others. Feels like the sound is much more compressed and less lenghtened and evenly distributed across the wave length. Probably because the fill is missing and the design being modular and not made from one piece of aluminium. I personally prefer my Emperor over the Yokozuna but would be interested to know if it would be possible to fill it with fiber to reduce (Or even get rid of) the high pitched noise it makes.

To me, it sounded like the Shogun had less snap and a quieter tone. Also, from the mid to low 60 dB that you were calling out with it... it sounded like you got lower overall numbers than with the newer Yokozuna that was hitting average high 60s to low 70dB. Now that aside.... the Yokozuma is so cool looking, adjustability of the baffles and the quick disconnect is cool. I rather buy one of the newer style then have to spend 50.00 usd on the adapter for the older style moderators and 20 more for the barrel end disconnect attachment. So the value is with the newer modular style for sure. Yet, I like the tone and sound of the bigger old ones. But I wasn't there when you shot so maybe it may be different if I heard them side by side.
@bowmanoutdoors
@bowmanoutdoors 10 месяцев назад
I’ll see if we can capture side-by-side comparison (I’ll have to get some advice from Logan on that one). I did make a nice chart showing the decibel reading from each shot. The Yokozuna was just over 1db quieter than the shogun. That said, so much of it isn’t the db reading, but the other factors. Thanks for the feedback and support. I’ll try to attach the charts to the comments section.
@SavageAirguns
@SavageAirguns 10 месяцев назад
@@bowmanoutdoors no problem. I understand the tone vs dB as I have the Tanto and the Sumo. You can hear less sound "carry" and a more muffled "snap" tone sometimes even if the dB reads similar from moderator to moderator. That's why I said the tone of the Shogun sounded better through the camera... but I also understand that the camera is not perfect accurate on tones when recording. It's a hard thing to explain but I do know what you mean. A side by side would be awesome. Shoot one then the other with the mic in-between would make an interesting comparison. Keep it up! Looking forward to more.

@kungfoochicken08
@kungfoochicken08 Месяц назад
You can absolutely use a .22 Yokozuna on a .177. It’s actually recommended to up one caliber anyway to minimize baffle strikes. You can always go bigger, you just can’t go smaller. I use a .357 Yokozuna on my .30 air guns. I’ve got an Emperor for my .457 air gun. I tried it on my .30 the other day it and it was dead silent. I had to start counting my shots because I couldn’t tell when I ran out of pellets. If size isn’t a concern, I’d recommend going as big as you’re comfortable with, especially since the cost is roughly the same.

Will that FX you have there be able to kill a bird or squirl cause I heard FX guns don't have the same power as EDGUNS.
@bowmanoutdoors
@bowmanoutdoors 10 месяцев назад
Power is determined by mass*velocity so the comparisons between manufacturers should be dependent upon those two variables. Accuracy, shot capacity, number of shots, aesthetics, etc are the things that are specific to manufacturers. You can check out some of our other videos of squirrel take downs. I’ve had no issues with humane dispatch of small game. Some folks are even hunting deer, wild hogs and larger game with both FX and other manufacturers. Our current setups in .25 caliber put out similar foot pounds of energy as a 22 long rifle. That is a fairly relevant benchmark for comparison if you are familiar with 22LR. Thanks for your question and support.
