Modern Classic: Gordon's Breakfast

This drink was created by Sam Ross at Little Branch around 2008. It is a riff on Sasha Petraske's original Cocktail Gordon's Cup. I probably should have done these drinks in the same video and I promise to release the other soon. Ross decided to turn that lovely drink into a sweet and spicy Bloody Mary Alternative by adding a little Worcestershire Sauce and Cholula Hot Sauce. Viola! One of my all time favorite drinks!

Leandro! Thank you guys for this. While making brunch for myself and the Mrs. I got the notification for this video and what a cocktail indeed! Cheers!

I’ve been experimenting with this. Infused some Prairie Gin with jalapeños, added some kick. Also tried a few cilantro leaves. Mixes reviews with the cilantro, the jalapeño gin was a hit.

Would a jalapeno simple syrup give the same results?

Glad to see you tackle this drink! The Gordon's Cup is an all-time favorite of mine, and the Gordon's Breakfast is absolutely my 'go-to' when a Bloody Mary is in order. I'm also a fan of the 5-10 seconds of Intro 'outtakes'....I assume that's Mariusz's doing? Comical.

Heck of a breakfast drink! I am going to get some Chalua, so that I can make this. Gordon's Cup is one of current favorite gin cocktails; this is a likely contender for that title. Great video! I really dig the fun you have in front of the camera!

“That is phenomenally good” - Leandro Yes exactly what I’m thinking, I made this for my wife and paused right before the above quote and tried it as she lets me check the quality of the drinks I make her (my excuse is I want to make consistently great cocktails, yeah the testing is fun) . Holy crap, I lack a better word to describe how it hit me other than a mouthgasm. I was seriously not expecting this.

Great video! Two very small things to add for those interested: 1)This cocktail is brilliant and balanced already but if you happen to have some MSG solution from the MSG video, use one small dash and it just amplifies the lime and the cucumber somehow. 2) If you are vegetarian or vegan like myself, or simply don't like anchovy, you can often pick up a vegan alternative (I use "Henderson's" but this might only be available here in the UK). The thing to note is that often this is FAR less salty than worcestershire sauce, so rebalance that salt with couple dashes of saline solution if you have it.

It's pronounced Wooster-sheer always say sheer as opposed to Shire when it ends a county name but if you are referring to the band or the collective name for the English counties say 'Shire'.

@connorkenyon
@connorkenyon 5 лет назад
@@nigelbennington4565 The sauce is actually called Worcestershire Sauce but most Brits shorten it to Worcester Sauce. I also don't say shire when I'm saying where I'm from, I'll say I'm from Worcester despite being from Evesham in Worcestershire and not the city itself.

I still love this channel. So much potential. Lately it seems it has lost its unique matter-of-fact approach. Had to turn this one off 45 second mark. Talky, loud, and bombastic. I've learned much here I credit this channel for my new fascination with modern classic cocktails. I bought all the gear and I bought a lot of booze. I make all my syrups and I make my homemade clear ice all because of this channel. all your videos have been very consistent throughout with exception of these past few. I hope everything's okay I enjoy you and your content.
@PeterJohns

I watched it, and it looks like a great drink. But I know what you mean. The matter-of-fact approach was what got me hooked on the early videos. The affected phone check and meta "how to say what's up guys" is not for me. Would be more suitable for an outtake video.
