Mike and Reed go through the current modern comics that they enjoy and go over a few of the books that they think have potential to carry the load for current readers. They also go over the conditions in modern comics that seem to be working for modern creators at the big 2

The Gargoyles of Gotham is a terrific title flying under the radar. Hellblazer is so dark it is nearly unreadable, but really enjoyable. I was into Batman First Knight, but sadly, it really fizzled out in a weak third and final issue. I have really enjoyed World's Finest, as Mora's art is fabulous. Don't care about Waid's politics, but his WF run really is grounded, old-school DC.

Gargoyle of Gotham really is a great book and while its delayed a bit, its certainly worth it given the art that is in that book, Haven't checked out hellblazer but certainly appreciate the recommendation. Largely on the channel we aren't at all aware of folks politics in that we both deliberately make attempts to avoid that element and let the books stand on their own, but we know that approach is not something everyone does and fully get that everyone makes their own decisions that they feel are correct and we will always respect that. Overall WF has been a great book and Mora's art is among the best in any book period

I picked up some of the Amazing Spider-Man Mighty Marvel Masterworks. Great format to just pick up and read and I like how it fits right next to the Manga on my shelf lol.

Happy to hear you enjoyed those as well! They really are a great format and do fit very well on the shelf next to manga! Hopefully its a format that these companies can continue to use

Great to hear these thoughts on recent runs. Avengers Twilight was one of my happiest surprises after picking it up at the local shop.

I’ve been reading Wolverine Madripoor Knights. I’m a big fan of Chris Claremont, and we celebrate 50 years of wolverine in 2024. I think it’s amazing that after all these years Chris Claremont is still writing the character that he helped develop and make popular. God bless you fellas!

Great to see claremont still getting some work and showing that he can still write Wolverine well after all these years. Exciting to see that he will get to continue after Madripoor Knights as well with the Wolverine: Deep Cut. Great to see a legend getting to write new stories

@@RMLitegrade Yeah I don’t think anyone is more fit to write the X-men than the man who wrote X-men for decades are turned them into the franchise we love today. We gotta cherish these legends while we still have them.

@@gameboy_colorful7078 Absolutely, would be great if they would put him on the main X-title again! but overall it is still great to read something from him, especially stories like what we are getting that fit perfectly in his original run

@@RMLitegrade yeah maybe he doesn’t even want to write the mainline X-men book at this point. Maybe he doesn’t want to deal with the continuity or maybe he feels like he’s been there and done that. Still we’ve gotten a X-related book from Claremont almost every month this year, and he wrote that short vignette in X-men 700 as well. It’s fitting that for wolverine’s 50th year we get a 2 Claremont mini series. I hope he continues after deep cuts

@@gameboy_colorful7078 Certainly hope we seem more, would love if there is just continuing mini-series from claremont

Hi, I have enjoyed/am enjoying nearly all of those comics you mention by the Big 2. I would also add that the recent 10 part Blade series was excellent, as is King's Penguin series. Zdarsky's recent Batman: The Knight, also a 10 parter, is a great read too, imo. I appreciate that you guys try to stay positive in your videos. It's important to point out flaws and suggest how things can be improved, but it's also important to highlight and support great work. My LCS - Coffee And Heroes in Belfast, NI, try to adopt a very positive attitude in a podcast they have on Spotify. They have loads of episodes uploaded with reviews, previews and creator/artist interviews. Worth checking out! Thanks, Stuart

Also, l really liked the format and price for First Knight. I am willing to pay for the grander effort. I wish that final issue had been better, but l certainly will support this kind of venture.

It absolutely was worth the price, the finale was the weakest issue of the bunch and did seem a bit rushed almost as if the creative team needed two issues instead of one to properly close everything the first two opened up. Overall was still a satisfying series and good to see that folks liked the series overall
