What I love about Cam is they made him seem stereotypical at first...then you realize he's more masculine than Mitch in every other way. I love them, they're my favorite on this show
I think that's part of the genius of the show. They definitely play off stereotypes, but each of the characters on the show are much more complex than they seem on the surface. It's very much like real life, and reminds us to not always judge a book by its cover.
I like the Cam character but do wish there were more than just nelly stereotypes on TV. I'm gay, but I don't swish while listening to Liza. A lot of us are pretty butch.
@@devildoll9929 I have a theory. I think hetero people with a negative attitude towards gays, can "manage" a type like Cam or Mitch, because they are so stereotypical and different, the contrast suits their need to feel a distance from them. If there is a guy who is "just like themselves" who is gay, I think they feel very confronted, because they feel safer when gays are portrayed like a curiosity for them to laugh at.
@@EscargoTouChaud Good observation, so true. I think this is also why my dad can socialize with my mom's hairdresser but doesn't want to know much about my boyfriend. It hits too close to home.
I love that even though he only claims to be 1/16 Cherokee he still puts on the *absolute thickest* and most hollywood native american accent he can muster
@@itsdamesb8678 it’s the accent used by racist white people in media to mimic indigenous peoples. Thought it was obvious. Or maybe you’re young and haven’t watched many movies or television (especially old westerns). I’m also indigenous.
@@MikeDrop66 Yup. Whitest person I know always pulls the NA card when it's convenient. He says he's 1/32 Cherokee and tries to use it for everything including academic opportunities.
I'm 50 years old, and this is my favorite show of all time. EVERYBODY on this show nails it. And it is such a feel-good show. My biggest thanks to all the actors and everyone involved in creating this gem!
This show is fantastic! The writers and actors are absolutely brilliant! The comedy timing is so spot on! If your feeling down watch this show! Laughter is the best medicine!😅
First time I saw Cam go into his Cherokee persona, I literally fell off my couch laughing. Then Mitch adds those whispers of "oh god, please stop." Very funny stuff based on character and circumstance.
You forgot the best part of that last bit: *Mitchell* [on the phone]: Hey Cam. [pause] Why are you crying? [pause] How do you get kicked out of a muffin shop? 😂
Man, I wish they were a real couple sometimes, just because of the dynamic they leave in the show. As much as I love all the others, cam and mitchell are my favorites; no hesitation.
Take a bite of an apple, take a bite of a pear. Take a bite of the cookie that you left over there. Here's one thing you should never do, don't bite Taylor, Brandon or Sue because people aren't food, people aren't food. Your friends will run away if they're scared of being chewed. And as a side note.. private parts are private.
"if you were single" is so dang clever. That sneaky little man intended to check how they feel about him knowing they would want confirmation about who he was talking about
This was literally my first exposure to a gay couple on TV. I remember being really little, and there was an episode where cam was dressed as a clown and said something like, "Get away from my husband" and 8 year old me had his mind blown. I didn't know that two guys can get married until this show.
I wish I could have been on set to see Cam as a native American. I'm betting they had to do several takes before Jesse and the crew could make it through that scene. Heck I don't even know how Eric kept that going.
