Depending on what country you live in, there are different laws everywhere. Hobie is interesting, but the kid should search only in playgrounds. We must listen to our mothers while we are children. Maybe your mother is afraid of something. My kids and I do it together. Maybe your parents will be interested in doing this Hobie with you, too.
