Hi! Message to Erik: If Sarah has high cholesterol, tell her to take Niacin rather than Lipitor. Niacin is a vitamin supplement and can be found in the vitamin section of most stores. One thing doctors don't tell you about Lipitor (or its generic, atorvastatin) is that it breaks down muscle mass. I used to take atorvastatin and when I learned this last spring I switched. Now I feel SO much stronger it's ridiculous. I do have to take 6 500mg tablets a day but it's worth it. Talk to your doctor about it. I do get tired of these drugs that have dubious side effects, especially when there are homeopathic solutions that don't have those side-effects. And I really dislike that there's nothing in the literature -- or from the doctor -- about this. I learned it from my brother, who also has high cholesterol and is very athletic.

Hey Eric: I spent way too much time trying to figure out how to attach the bags to the belt. Any quick instruction to check if I do it right? I’ll try and send a pic. Other than that, though, I like the belt - hammer holster 😋.

Its an advantage to have someone like Jaime always after the details...He is meticulous 👍👍👍
@dhawthorne1634
@dhawthorne1634 9 месяцев назад
It can also REALLY slow you down when they feel the need to micromanage; stopping you from working (often in the middle of a task) and preventing them from getting any actual work done, themselves. Jaime's, certainly gotten better about this over time. His long-winded explanations could do with a bit more shortening, though I'm guilty of this one as well. When you have the background knowledge, you just feel compelled to share it for some reason.

"Remind me of the tooth ferry"... that was a wholesome fatherly thought right there! Loved seeing a glimpse from your family life in the video. I remember tooth ferry sending my kids e-mails together with the money under their pillows when they were young too (but ours was a modern version of the tooth ferry with an e-mail. LOL).

Jamie: Just a word of caution. Never use one (or two) walk boards on a mason's scaffolding. Placing all three walk boards will minimize lateral slipping on the steel frame when you step onto them. A five foot fall will easily break arms, legs, ribs etc. Go ahead, ask me how I know.

Thank you for sharing your experience with this shed manual, a useful and well-designed resource for building your own shed. ru-vid.comUgkxzaRUJNcbypw-fRBDbqqz43ULIa-1EGP- It sounds like you enjoyed the process of creating something new, rather than repairing something old. The pictures in the manual were helpful and informative. I'm glad your dad liked it and is looking forward to building a shed. The hardcover edition was a good choice, as it is more durable and resistant to car fluids than the soft cover ones. I appreciate your feedback. blush

Great stuff as always! Pro tip on the drill running in the toolbox though. Most any cordless tool usually has a trigger lock by setting the forward/reverse selector to the middle. It's a good habit to always lock the trigger when transporting/storing your tools as your tool could catch on fire if it's sitting there running in an enclosed space for a long time. That or remove the battery. Even though you moved it to stop the tool, you could hit a bump on the road or what have you and the drill could start running full tilt again. Cordless tools like sawzalls and jigsaws will have a dedicated trigger lock as well for this reason. Or say a circular saw will have a 2 stage trigger.

Ye should take note of handy tricks and incorporate them into the checklists for each stage of construction. We use checklists constantly in work. It's super handy. Especially for small companies, there's only four of us but we still need to play by the same rules as the big companies, checklists help keep us efficient and effective and reduces mistakes and maximises profits/wages for us.

You guys should really invest in an adjustable plate level by Stabila for plumbing those taller walls. The amount of times I have plumbed a wall with a 6' level and double checked it with a laser only to have the wall off over 1/2 of an inch makes them worth it to me.

Crane capacity is measured 5' from Pin center (the pivot point of the crane). I had a 320 ton crane that was reached out as far as it could with the jib on. I don't remember what it's limit was at that distance, but they were picking a 400 ton COoling tower that probably weighed 10,000 lbs. The boom had a nice arch in it.

Your complaints about all the angles reminded me about why we chose to go with inverted trusses on our place. It allows the back half of the home to have flat ceilings but the front half to have vaulted ceilings towards the focal point of the house. A good compromise.

The one inch fur strip might be necessary if the rise between the two points is too much. If you had to saw off a half inch on trusses like those, one of the walls you were sitting them on was likely too short. It's easier to trouble-shoot if you think of angles like that like right triangles (because that's what they are when there's 1-90° rise). In a right triangle, if 2 measurements are known, the third one is easy to find. So since the run is right (the distance from 1 wall to the other) and the diagonal is right (the predesigned engineered trusses), the problem has to be in the rise (the wall height).
