Honda cub & Vespa both icons. As a daily commuter & work bike i prefer the Honda, much less prone to body scratches of the "1 piece body" Vespa. Maintenance & spare parts also come cheaper with the Honda. Having said all, my favorite is the older carburetted Honda Cubs but it's not the topic here😁
@@ginoasci2876 the Cub has sold more units then any other motor vehicle in the world. The Cub is an icon even if you don't want it to be.. still a better option then the overpriced Vespa Scooters.
@@brianworden7022 Yup i feel ya. When i was young i only liked fast mean machines. I'm done with all dez & now it's really my cubby that makez my day!! "Cute, friendly & so versatile is Honda Cub"❤️
@@brianworden7022 Yes Honda Cub since its launch has sold over 100,000,000 & still going. Not even the classic VW Beetle could sell so many. And today a few Chinese mcycle companies are cloning the Honda's bullet proof engine. This says enough😀
Good day to you ! I am a HONDA Cross Cub Grandpa from Japan. Your Super Cub and VESPA video is so great ! Thank you so much for sharing !! Have a nice day !
You'll never even approach to looking as cool on a Super Cub as you will a Vespa. The Vespa is a true scooter whereas the Super Cub is a small motorcycle trying to be a scooter. That said, the Super Cub for the money is a solid urban vehicle with beaucoup support as Honda has dealerships in almost every town of any size. Vespa does not so there's that. Having said that theres just something about a Vespa that just makes me want to get on it a ride!
I really wanted a Vespa 150 Touring but ended up with a Honda Elite 110 scooter when I retired a few years ago. A scooter in my opinion is more like a 2-wheel micro car. Mine has a huge underseat storage and I had a windshild installed also. I feel it's too light and unstable at 52 mph top speed so I am thinking of trading it with the new Honda 125 Super Cub. I think it would be more stable at higher speed because of its bigger wheels.
I have one of each, they're both great, each one has its advantages. The Vespa is faster, has built-in storage, charging point, generally better storage options for long distances and is even easier to ride (being automatic), the Honda has the fun semi-automatic system, better fuel economy, lighter weight and better sound.
@@jake88ci125 vespa primavera if anything have only 1hp more than the super cub 125. And while the honda does 1.5L/100 the vespa drinks way more at around 2.4L/100 But this was always an issue with Italian bikes. They have great engines, but drink too much
You explained it very well. I would like to add a few things that were overlooked; -Scooters are more suitable vehicles to use in winter because your feet get wet. This alone may be a reason to prefer a scooter, because it is necessary to ride a motorcycle in winter. - The biggest reason for the price difference is the automatic transmission option; Even manual cars are no longer preferred.
I own a new 2023 Vespa 150cc Sprint and let me tell you... it leaves the Cub in the dust. I can easily do 65 mph or 70 no problem. The Cub is strictly for putting around in the city. The Vespa 150 can easily handle any highway at 60 or 65. It's extremely reliable and economical to own. Don't get me wrong the Cub is a nice little bike. But the Vespa is all together something else. Vespas have been driven across continents, deserts, and frozen tundra's all over the world no problem. It's a proven machine the world over! The Cub is nice but it's way under power.
I’m on a 2023 125cc Vespa Sprint. 11hp so still higher than the Honda! Super reliable. Has averaged 150 Imperial MPG over the first 4500 miles. Piaggio pretty much invented the modern day scooter, and this engine / power train has been run in their bikes since 2012, so known to be flawless. Also much prefer the wide Vespa tyres over the large skinny ones on the Honda - we’ve got much higher cornering speeds!
I own a Vespa gts300 for fun and a Piaggio Liberty 125 for commuting! I had several C90's as a kid in the 1980's and loved them off roading! I will be selling the Liberty this year and adding the Supercub 125 to my collection for fun and commuting! They are fantastic Scooters/Motorcycles and built to last!
What kind of thinking thinks that a 12” wheel provides a better ride than a 17” wheel? Especially, as stated, over potholes! A softer suspension or softer tires (low pressure) may temporarily give a softer ride, but smaller wheels do not provide a softer ride. Courtesy of Half Vast Flying
I have Vespa 300 same set up as 125 gts Vespa, and Honda innova with updated suspension. I love both no bias. The Vespa is the best handling 2 wheeler I’ve ridden, 50 plus bikes and scooters…..way way better than the innova, so nimble, it literally floats over the road surface, yes really really bad pot holes may bother it, but the luxuriousness of the ride is the other end of the spectrum. These modern gts Vespas are beautiful, also knock socks off the Honda sh300 125 line……Honda are great, but they screw your back up. Donuts be fooled by the Vespa small wheels on these modern Vespa…..utterly brilliant. Also remember a lot of little Honda innova type have inner tubes, whereas you can plug Vespa tyre in minutes at edge of road. …….
The vespa if your girl and you want to ride a dress and sandals or heels the super Cub if you're comfortable riding in tennis shoes and shorts every single time, I'm five six and it's hard for me to get on the super Cub where my Vespa I can get on off that all day long in a dress and heels and have no problem
My validated prejudice based on reputation tells that the Honda will be better than an Italian bike . The Italian cars have a reputation for poor reliability , even the luxury brands . You do need big wheels on a bike to survive the potholes too . Just avoid riding anything with small wheels .
The super cub is better in almost every way. The camps are usually divided along the lines of looks. If fashion is your primary concern then the Vespa seems to attract that audience more. However, the super cub has such a big aftermarket following that if you’re willing to put in the time/money the super cub can be customized to be as pretty as you want it to be. And you still may save a few bucks too
Piaggio pretty much invented the modern scooter and are extremely reliable. They use the same mechanical platform for well over a decade on each model. The 125cc Vespa kicks out 11hp, so still considerably higher than the Honda percentage wise. Vespa also has much wider tyres so very high cornering speeds. There’s also the Piaggio Liberty which is basically the Vespa drive train, with larger skinny wheels and plastic body panels at a cheaper price point.
I recently sold my classic Vespa and I'm looking at the Honda. I live in Italy but the small tires on the various & questionable road surfaces were one reason. The other is the sound of the engine and finally maintenance. Changing Vespa tires are complicated where as the Honda looks like a bike.
Vespa only has a couple of advantages :. Storage space and passenger comfort. Is that worth the price differential to you ? And Vespa also has a glaring weakness : lack of service shops.
Higher power. Even the 125cc Vespa Sprint / Primavera puts out 11hp, and the 155cc is 12.9hp (almost 50% more than the Honda!) Higher reliability, Piaggio pretty much invented the modern day scooter. They run each power train for about a decade, with little tweaks along the way if necessary. Honda are known for reliability with cars, but not with the small engines bikes. Some RU-vidrs with the Grom / Monkey (same Honda 125cc engine) are drinking oil like crazy and have even had engine rebuilds sub 10k miles.
I have rode both of these the new cob a 2012 Vesper both were like 125 cc's think the Vesper might have been a little more but whatever ain't no way it can match the cub Road smoother come on now the Cub is like a king from way back Honda Cub is the best Ain't No Other Yamaha Suzuki scooter Vesper can come close all the others is no match for the cub
I'd say an automatic transmission is an important safety feature in the big city, but the same automatic transmission is nothing but a waste of power and fuel on country roads. I see traditional scooters like the Vespas as the much better option for an urban environment, and the Cub as the better option for more rural areas.
I actually wonder why the engine sizes are not reversed with the Cub and the Vespas. 100 ccm is more than sufficient in the big city, 125 ccm is plenty there. At the same time, something in the range of at least 150 ccm, preferably close to 200 ccm, would be needed for the longer ranges and faster traveling speeds of the country roads.
You can get EV conversion kits for older Cubs... not sure why anyone would do that unless they got a rolling chassis but even then a 125 or lager engine is only a few hundred bucks.
You did not mention that the cup is chain driven final drive and it needs to be maintain, cleaned, lubed and adjusted. Here is Europe Vespas are the kings of agile city traffic and Cubs are nowhere to be seen.
Not true about the high Speed on a Vespa. I took mine to 70 mph on a 150 cc engine. Also, not true about the Vespa not being a two seater, unless it's the GT300. I guess its matter of opinion. I think VESPA is a much better choice. If you want a motorcycle, then buy a motorcycle and not a scooter! The Honda Super Cub C125 looks a bicycle with an engine. Vespa is a classic!
My 1970 C70 Cub which is 72cc has passenger pegs... so I'm sure the 150cc Vespa can do it. Plus a Cub isn't a scooter, it is a motorcycle. The Cub used to have a 50cc moped variant with pedals and all. Both Vespa's and Cubs are classics just one is a scooter and the other a motorcycle.
Both Vespa 150c. Will smoke the super cub any day. And far more comfortable and is a scooter. And better quality over super cub. Hence more in cost. You get what you pay for. So super cub a better buy well not to me. I have owned 7 different actual motorcycles with 29 years riding experience. And i would pick the vespa 150 over super cub any day any where period. So! Super cub is actually classified as motor cycle! And that is the puniest motorcycle ever. Wouldn’t have it period. Not here in usa anyway mabe good over in asia where different infrastructure everything so close but here in usa where all spread out. No brainer Vespa 150 all the way. As far as my 29 years of riding experience is concerned super cub is a useless piece of crap. Commonsense says you full of shit.
The Cub is a good small motorcycle that is reliable and built strong and can take a beating. I have a 52 year old C70 which is a 72cc Cub and well it go 45 MPH with some that weighs a little more then the bike does with gas and still runs like a champ.
1./ No street or dirt motorcyclist I've ever met would pick a 150cc scooter for anything until you are like me : 76 yr old ex-motocross rider- they would have to go at least 300cc. You say the 125cc is "puny", but the 150 is "smiking"...lol... 2./ The Vespa 150 has tiny tires and potholes in the dark are a friggn' nightmare ! 3./ The acceleration on Vespa is admittedly better, but Honda gears beat CVT belts off road no matter the HP or torque. So IMO : Honda better for dual purpose riding , gas grade cost, parts availability, overall value. Vespa for smoot ride, acceleration at intersections, storage, city driving. To each his own...God Bless.
I ride a Vespa 150 sprint, I OVER PAYED 1000 dollars because of white and over seas shipping, had this scooter for 4 years and can say it's a great city machine! Lots of mainance, OIL changes, tires, electronic ignition switch, ETC, over all satisfied. REGRET not buying a Vespa GTS, better for traveling and highway. 👍🛵🛵🛵🛵🛵🛵🛵🛵🛵🛵💙🌷🌹
