You're misreading the chthonian nightmare card, you don't pay any mana to activate it, only X amount of energy. If it was mana then it would be X symbol with a grey backdrop (and it would mean you only pay 1 energy per activation since then it would've been X mana and {energy symbol}) but since it's the letter 'X' it only refers to a variable amount of energy to pay.

Ive been playing souls of the lost to discard Wonder and whatnot in Dredge, but i think psychic frog is better for discarding multiple gy hits AND it works with Flare of denial in a pinch.

Great vid! Would love to know your input on the fetch land bundle - I assume it's pseudo-mandatory for anyone looking to really play Timeless?

Yoo thanks! I think if you're struggling for gems and you've already got the other half of the fetch land cycle crafted then they're not a massive priority since you can probably get away with the allied ones for now and I'd probably prioritize spending the gems on MH3 packs instead and crafting the rest later, but if you've not got any yet I think it's a good idea. If you've got a lot of gems to spare and cost isn't as much of an issue for you then I think it's a decent deal either way.

I'm really curious about the MDFC dual lands. Obviously entering tapped is rough, but the GW one is a big aura for enchantments and the RU one is another energy payoff.

Solitude, like swords, annihilates shadow so thoroughly, because exiling a death’s shadow always puts their life to 13, killing all other shadows.

Shadow went from the best deck in modern to barely played for a reason, and we only have solitude there.

Cthonian Nightmare and the other pay X energy things are templated ina a confusing manner imo. Nightmare is pay X energy, and energy is all you pay. You are right that its a "fixed" version of recurring nightmare, where they want you just looping small creatures instead of sacing small dorks for big cards. Was Cephalid Coliseum revealed by the time you recorded this? It should be an auto include in dredge decks. You can also target the opponent for damage with bowmasters/sheoldred, or make them discard 3 with narset parter of veils.

I consider myself to have a decent memory and knowledge of Magic cards, but it wouldn't half help to follow your points if you could bring up other named cards on screen as you mention them.

Those new Eldrazi have crazy effects. You think Eldrazi could be meta on Arena?

The Eldrazi are pretty interesting but I'm not particularly high on the majority of them tbh. The best ones imo are ones that enable Ugin's Labyrinth but can also be used early so they're not dead cards before you have the mana such as Nulldrifter, Devourer of Destiny and Drowner of Truth. Outside of that I'm not particularly high on any of the others apart from Emrakul, the World Anew because of the madness cost, and potentially Thief of Existence because it's cheap - the rest either don't enable Labyrinth and are a little overcosted, or cost 7+ but can't be used early and are worse than existing options.

I've not really looked through those cards yet but I always think it's a shame they don't add the commander sets to Arena though cos there are always some sweet cards in there.

I'm really hoping this set brings people to Historic. Most of these cards just don't seem quite good enough for Modern and Timeless. There are gonna be so many new fun cards that I think will only be playable in Historic. With that said, this set does make me want to more fully dive into Timeless as well. The format has just seemed so limited with the few truly busted things on arena. Now there will be a lot more busted stuff.

Hazoret’s monument is almost identical to ruby’s medallion and was never relevant Only 2 reasonable historic storm decks I saw were song of creation and scapeshift spelunking

Yeah I do expect Scam do be a popular deck because it's easy to port over which will make combo decks worse in general, but I also think there's already a variety of other decks that already exist in Timeless which have good quality topdecks that scam will struggle to beat, and I'm sure there will be a bunch of other new decks that pop up with MH3 so I'm not concerned about it dominating the format yet.
