Yesterday I cleaned up the worksite and broke down the equipment and removed all the crap. It is refreshing to see an open room again. The best part all the heavy construction and cabinet building is done. Made a new punch list of things needed to complete remodel of Apt.
Love your videos. I’m finishing my basement and your videos saved me a lot of work and frustration. I would love to see some videos on how you write/draw up permits and the whole process around it.
I like to leave the electrical on, so as I get tired I just lick my fingers and go gab one. That way you get a quick pick me up and get right back at it!! Hope this tip helps. Dirty Jersey out!!
Was on a job demoing a kitchen, living room, mud room, sitting room, & bathroom(turned all but bathroom into one big open floor plan, with kitchen divided by countertop); halfway through homeowner popped in to see progress and was just amazed that we weren’t hitting, breaking, demolishing the walls, floors, etc(as well as how "clean" & organized everything was)...like she saw on TV😉 Told her that most demoing isn’t done like you see on TV, lol.... Also, just love those green dumpster bags, makes demo day little easier to get rid of everything; especially when your in a place where can’t have a dumpster on site 😁 Excited about the new season, it’s gonna be a fun year!👍🏻 Cheers✌🏻
Thumbs-up for flattening nails as you go! It makes it safer and the lumber stacks better as well for disposal! The only thing better is someone wanting to learn the trade (free labor) that can pull the nails for you as you go. Grin.
Wanted to thank you for restoring my own faith in myself. I am borderline paranoid about being a clean DIY-er I would be constantly demoing...sweep,,,or dig..and rake...Grt8 content!I am learning so much about the safety aspects and being reassured that I am not too shabby at dyi work.
9:16 I learned that the hard way when I was 16. I was changing the outlets in my room in the basement. I had turned off the breaker for the basement and gotten through all but one. Low and behold, the final outlet was on a different breaker and I did an impression of a flag in the wind.
I've been watching RenoVision for a long time, but I think this is the first time I've seen Jeff wearing gloves *and* a hard hat! I think I can scream "BINGO" for crossing that off my list! edit: Safety tip - make sure the kids aren't on the second floor before removing the stairs! Corollary safety tip: Make sure the kids are on the second floor while demoing the stairs.
Did I miss the overview of the project? I’d like to see what you started with and get an idea of where you’re going. We’re restoring an 1870s home and just found a load-bearing wall had been removed and we need to call in a structural engineer.
Another missed "Here's Johnny!!" moment when punching through rock from the other side :-). I greatly look forward to this series. Your videos are among some of the most informative AND entertaining out there. Congratulations on the new house.
Jeff, you know it - renovating old homes where code was....well, what code!!??😂🤣 Luved the Count reference👍👍. Awesome series, looking forward to this one as well!
WOW! That looked like fun. One off my favorite parts of a project. Love those tools... Titanium! Strong and Light. Now that’s a son with great taste in tools.... Thanks for another great one...
Solid Titanium. Very expensive. I sold it and I also have a spine made of it. As a matter of fact, one of my customers made my spine parts. They were expensive too. Love to watch you work, nothing like when my dad worked on our house. We were usually chased when the profanity started. Hopefully I'll never have to do this work but I enjoy your demeanor.
Nice seeing the Farmhouse remodel underway. Show Notes: Jeff removes hallway stairs...once completed, realizes he left his truck keys upstairs and the step ladder is back at the shop...to be continued... :) Thanks for putting these videos together. Cheers!
And, if anyone has read my previous comment and thinks I'm remotely serious than please go and watch Jeff's videos on electrical work and DO NOT attempt to do any of it yourself.!! Very much looking forward to the reno bud!! God bless, and Dirty Jersey out!!
Great video Jeff a lot of info Hardhat check, safety glass check, gloves check and running shoe what no steel nose boots up there in Ottawa Thanks for sharing
I was so excited about this series, but I gotta tell ya, I'm worn out already! And that was an easy part??? LOL Thank you, guys! See you on Saturday for the next one!!
Jeff. I love the video. That's not that old of a house. I wish you could show a demo of an old house with plaster and lath chicken wire. I hate that stuff. lol
That looks so much better! My house has all these 1980s compartments. In my tiny bathroom, they have a shower compartment, a toilet compartment, a tub compartment and two sink compartments. I am knocking them all down for one open bathroom and want to knock through a wall to the bedroom to put in double french doors for some natural light. How do you know if the wall is carrying a load?
First time I've seen you with a hard hat. Now if you had a tool belt plus the hat, glasses and wreaking bar you could make your own calendar. Just need 11 more. Really enjoy your video's. Thank you
Oh My God are those safety glasses I see on your face? LOL. Man you really are excited about this project, well your excitement is knowledge to our ears, so keep it up and keep it safe as always. Great job
Just bought a 1800sq ft 70s builder home in GTA to see how much I’ve learned from Jeff’s videos. If I bring the house down I’m coming after you. All jokes aside, one of the first project I’ll be doing is to open drywall beside the stairs and replace the studs with good qaulity lumber to achieve an exposed stud style wall. Is there anything I should be cautious about other than the usual mechanicals in the wall?
be sure to look inside the ceiling first. that is where most of the surprises come from. Cheers! I would love to come down and do a walkthrough with you. Send me your details!
Most of the knowledge presented in this channel is not applicable to my location, however the presentation and production of the show are absurdly good. I find myself watching every video this man makes. TV is missing out on you.
Wish I had seen this before we demolished a few walls in my place. It would've saved us some time and struggle! Question: Our top plates were nailed down through the trusses from the attic. What's the best way to remove the nails hanging on the ceiling?
Jeff the ceiling above the wall you removed in this video has popcorn texture on it. Did you have any asbestos concerns? Did you mitigate it before the start of the demolition?
New home owner here. Love your videos! I’ve been getting some great ideas/tips for updating my 1960 ranch. Would like to see how to add a sunroom to a kitchen if you happen to get the opportunity. Thanks for sharing your know how.
some great tips and advice from a seasoned pro. safety is important, if you cannot work, you cannot earn and i'm now starting to pay for the bulletproof sins of my youth. waiting for the next part. Oh and are those "Steel toe'd" nike trainers? ;-) lol
I love your video they are so helpful. But I am planning to put in a fancy heavy tub in a house that was built in 1750s on the second floor master bedroom. I am told I need to reinforce the floors how do I do that.
I do like seeing some protection on you, only one thing is missing a mask. These old houses can have asbestos anywhere in the wall or paint and easy to breath it in. Other than that curious to see how this project's gonna turn out.
asbestos is not as much of a concern here. the structure is pre asbestos and the drywall is post asbestos. Perfect for me since I can't talk with that diaper on my face. Cheers!
Is that the prybar on your Amazon site? The one on the Amazon site looks smaller. First time I've ever seen a remodeling contractor do their own house.
@@HomeRenoVisionDIY I just started re-watching the cedar deck video, and I noticed that there's a shot of you demoing these exact stairs in the intro, even though that video came out over half a year ago... How many weeks is a few? xD
Yesterday shot a finishing nail through my thumb didn't even hurt slipped right out missed the bone not a drop of blood this morning my thumb hurts and is stiff stupid stuff happens.. too often lately LOL
get a microdot 4015 or something similar, it would really help out with the mic picking up breathing on your videos. I'm a big fan, but it gets annoying depending on what you are doing.
