I've never heard a non-marxist point out how it is different from post-modernism. It really goes to show that you have a full understanding of these things and aren't just some sort of partisan lecturer using buzz words like is so common in US and Europe.

The statistic that suggests that Muslims nations are the top watching porn nations is incorrect. If you notice its source is an Indian news website and conveniently places Pakistan somewhere at the top. Furthermore it makes no sense the Muslim countries would be on that list since porn is blocked in most of them, therefore the websites would not be able to track the users to those countries. I'm not saying it is not a problem in the Muslim world, but it is no where near how bad it is in the West. If you look at the official statistics it is shown that there are no Muslims countries in even the top 20.

In France we have a battlefield in universities since Napolean colonisation of Egypt where he brought the first "orientalistes" to study islamic society in order to control them. One century later we have Henri laoust or other islamologues who studies hanbali books and translate Ibn Taymiyya or Al Mawardi, they comment it and inject some liberal ideas into those siyassa texts. Seculars use Ibn Taymiyya to justify secularization, can you imagine ? What ? Because of the genius distorsion that orientalists have done from thoses texts. It's really important (Henri Laoust was the son of a French colonial governor in the muslim World) for academics to make sure that secularazation grows up from islam itself, in order to show that modernisation is a natural process that every nation should follow (what a belief !).

@RYLO CBLOOD also, just to be clear, we Muslims believe in Moses too, of which there’s plenty of evidence in our tradition of his very likely being a dark black complexion. Moses is one of the most mentioned figures in the Qur’an, and his story appears all over the Qur’an.

A question - when we say who is the compromising/tolerated and who is the compromised/tolerating - in what aspects are we speaking? Example - dress style, there is nothing that says in the law that we can’t dress in a thobe neither is there anything that prevents us from street preaching any more than it prevents the Christian’s, people can blast music from cars, we can raise the volume for the Quran ? So can someone explain the dynamic here?

You Muslims are so sure your Qur'an comes from God. You're so adament you won't be told otherwise. Well you're in for a shock. The Qur'an is a work of fiction. It's about as real as Harry Potter. Muhammad was never a messenger of God, he denoted himself that title so he could rule the world with divine approval. It's all a charade and a planetary lie. Islam is false. It comes from a warlord and a con artist.

@عبدالقادر-س8ب6ض
Really? He is definitely not mainstream. For example, he thinks that Hijab isn't obligatory. He also stated, _"I am not convinced that the evidence prohibiting Muslim women from marrying a kitabi is very strong."_ In the same article, he says, _"Surprising to me, all schools of thought prohibited a Muslim woman from marrying a man who is a kitabi (among the people of the book). I am not aware of a single dissenting opinion on this, which is rather unusual for Islamic jurisprudence because Muslim jurists often disagreed on many issues, but this is not one of them."_ So he admits to going against the tradition here Note to myself, and for those lurkers reading this, if the fact that "academics" who promote liberal reformist views in the name of Islam doesn't anger you and motivate you to study Islam then I don't know what will.

Tariq Ramadan is clearly liberal. He is against the huddud, he said that muslimah should go to school even without hijab, even if the law is unfair, because going to school is more important than wearing hijab. I don’t know how someone can have a shadow of a doubt that this man is a liberal.

In France we have Laoust, Massignon, Rodinson. Massignon was clearly vicious, where Laoust tried to be objective but in the califat view of Ibn Taymiyya, he lost the use of his neutrality. Rodinson was kind to the muslim world, but still he views islam from his marxist Dogma. We should always read those people from the religion/political ideology they follow. Because it always has its influence on their studies.
@Creativeetea
@Creativeetea Год назад
France was involved in colonisation that's why the state was supporting some orientalists, in the UK we can see that the state influence was not as big as the French. German orientalists were the most objective of all. Because they didnt have this political context.
