I like it .I use Victorian style combining with more modern style. A carpet with geometric shapes but more traditional furniture, a hint of lace in a couple of places and so on. I’ve incorporated it into my decor for years - also deep string color wood. Just my two cents.
This is nice yet nothing new. Eclectic style (a blend of Victorian trad and modern) has been around at least since the 1980s. “Designer style” was another term for it. I’m still glad though, that Victorian homes and antiques are being loved again :) Have you heard of Whimsical Victorian?
Love this video! I had never heard of "modern victoria" style before; I always thought it was just eclectic. I have always loved the juxtaposition of blending the modern with something classic or antique. This is what I currently use in my own home. It's so much fun and adds a very sophisticated but edgy feel.
Thank you for this video! I’ve not been able to find photos or examples online of what “modern Victorian” is, so I really appreciate this and your explanation of how to achieve this look.
Love you are showing how elements of the victorian age still work in homes now. I am repainting some of my rooms to brighten up my spaces more. At the time I was choosing colors like victorian white and such. Not white colors at all, more like pale peaches and mauvey tones as well as mutted light beiges. I love the cream colors in some of these pictures, not yellow at all but not greige looking. Do you happen to know what these colors are and who makes them? I have like 20 samples stuck to my walls and can't find anything that fit's well. Any help welcomed. Porches all around front and back of house which is s/e faceing. Don't get much light inside except a little in the morning for a short bit.( Room frame About 4:08-4:09 in this video)
Let me see if I can go back through this video and determine with some of the colors are. You may have to give me a few days but I will help you track it down. I really appreciate you watching and your home sounds beautiful already. Living in a beautiful Victorian home is something few people get to experience ❤️
AS someone who deals in Victorian furniture and is a period designer who does work on Museum homes. There is nothing in these photos that remotely resembles anything victorian.
As a designer that deals directly with period design. I agree. This vid is erroneous garbage. That promotes outdated false ideas about what victorian was and is. First of all victorian is an era not a style. A great many styles and fads were popular during the period. Many quite classical and sparse
Modern interiors are pathetic, the only reason why people don’t make traditional interiors is because it takes too long to decorate, this isn’t minimalist, this is lazy-ism
