Modern Vs Vintage Ribbon Microphones 

as someone who’s just sort of in the early stages of trying to tune my ear to distinctions like these it’s so fun to compare! I feel like it’s easy to hear the vintage here and quickly think there’s too much boominess just based on what we maybe expect from modern eq curves. But then I tried listening to it with depth in mind, and all of a sudden that super intimate low end sounds deeper and less crushed than the modern. Kinda crazy!

Ribbons bring a very "organic" vibe. Seems like it's not as clinical as an LDC, which is good, but has good depth at the bottom end.

The Oktava ML-18 has clearer mids. What micpre did you use?
