This is probably how Graves should’ve been written from the beginning. He’s a very layered in MWlll. Despite the events of the last game, he doesn’t take it personal, and works well with everyone, and despite being Shepherd’s closest ally, he backstabs him to save himself. In a way, he reminds me of Hondo from Star Wars, a freelance who most of the times is in conflict with the heroes due to his interests, but on occasion proves to be a very useful ally (and even friend). He feels like a true PMC in this game compared to MWll where he was either Shepherd’s personal lapdog or a close friend to 141 who didn’t really feel like a mercenary in the first place.
@@Deathmare235 I definitely liked him better in MWll, but the way he’s written in MWlll definitely gives a more PMC vibe to me. He’s not an antagonist like Menendez or Rorke who are sympathetic because of their backstory and want revenge or every other who villain who wants to either destroy the west or revolutionize the world. He’s at his core a businessman and like Shepherd, (who was his longest running benefactor) he’d betray Farah if paid by someone like Colonel Norris (he’s not gonna just work for the Kremlin and expose the West). He’s definitely more likeable as a close friend of 141, but he’s more interesting in this where he’s really only looking out for his business, and can either be a valuable ally thanks to his manpower or a very dangerous enemy. Though he has some morales like not rampaging throughout a city. Not sure if I got my point across but this is the best I could do. My point his he’s a very gray character, with no agenda of revenge or to destroy world. Just a businessman, and I think that’s intriguing.
Honestly, Graves might be my favourite character in this reboot series. He's so damn likable and steals every scene he is in. I hope he sticks around for future games.
@@jinxiehYT COD fans have the brain processing power of liquid shit so they don't really think about that and just look at how these characters look cool in cutscenes.
@@camblongkaras7121 To be fair, he's a likeable villain, like how people like Darth Vader or Palpatine, doesn't mean they glorify his actions though. Graves is a slimy businessman who serves himself, and it's refreshing to see not a "Oh I'm a morally grey character" for once. Y'all are more cringe for looking too deep into it and trying to come off as moral paragons of society...in a shooter game of an equally shitty company.
Ghost is pissed Graves is still alive. Just the fact that he wasn’t in the tank is mind boggling. Now we seen him with Farah and Alex trying to be friends with them again.
I can see how Gaz, being the 141 operative most removed from the Las Almas fiasco, holds a certain amount of respect for Graves for sharing his "getting dirty so the world stays clean" ethos, and even impressed how he cheated death during that tank fight. Loved how he subtly addressed Graves by the shoulder tap after Price pulled him away. Either he becomes the binding factor between 141 and Shadow in the sequel, or be the most betrayed if Graves ever backstabs again, which is much less likely since we already had Soap for that.
I'd love to see graves and an american marine task force end up assisting Gaz and Alex in the 4th, and hopefully a return for Sergeant Foley and Ramirez.
@@Lightning_God_kashimo Yknow don't quote me on this but that's probably cause he isn't a soldier, in mw2019 he was assisting in a police operation as an Armed Police officer my best guess Is he's more in touch with his human nature because its more what he knows that's my best guess
Yoo thanks for pointing that bro, you know i didn’t notice that the first time until i look closely again that shoulder tap by Gaz to Graves. Maybe in the Modern Warfare 4 Task Force 141 and Shadow Company can team up again
With Shepherd out of the picture, Graves now has no reason to assist 141 unless he truly wants revenge on Makarov for the missile fiasco and being undercutted at Zaya Observatory. Or Shadow Company could also be framed for the death of Shepherd which might cause them to go full villain mode against 141 in MW4, who knows
Shadow company doesn’t seem to take anything personal or want revenge. 141 killed a lot of shadows in the campaign and he still holds no grudges. The only reason I’d see them staying in the story is if the ULF hires them or for some reason they merge with the ULF or 141. Because I highly doubt they would be ally’s with konni due to them being terrorists
@@siva_tech2305 Hmm, I might have to agree with you. But in that case it just seems like the devs just wrote them out of the story in the most bs way possible. I'm hoping they find some way to stay in the story in MW4 in a plausible way especially considering Graves is a fan favorite.
Shadow Company just works for whoever’s paying them. They have no political agenda or any stake in world conflicts, except on the side of their employers.
Technically Shadow was never told to fire on Taskforce 141, just to vacate them from Alejandro’s base. Graves did give Ghost and Soap a chance to leave and things got out of hand if you think about it. Still a betrayal though
@@lucusceballos181 To begin with, Shepherd’s authorization for Graves to seize the base was already illegal, and he was the one who wanted TF141 out to begin with. Giving Graves the discretion to use lethal force on a government-sanctioned task force if they refused to comply with his illegal order is also illegal. So Graves is lying about not acting on those orders.
@@paolotorres8537 dude, 'seizing the base' was the LEAST illegal thing in that game. You had a US affiliated PMC using air power over a Mexican city, aiding a renegade Mexican special forces group into killing narco affiliated REGULAR mexican army soldiers while being assisted by british SAS members after members of said renegade Mexican Special Forces unit, crossed the border into America and caused american civilian fatalities. The base was then seized upon learning that the aforementioned renegade Mexican Special Forces were running operations in joint with a major Cartel boss and whose actions with held intelligence to include a goddamn nuke in chicago....like. LITERALLY EVERYTHING AND EVERYONE involved in that campaign was breaking so many laws that trying to blame anyone for anything makes you look like a goon.
@@Roamingeast the Mexican special forces aren’t renegade. The Mexican army was because they were in the pockets of the Cartel. And second, the whole ordeal was illegal, but TF141, CIA and Mexican Special Forces weren’t in the know of Shepherd and Shadow Company’s illegal missile transaction that got lost to Al-Qatala.
@TheIndogamer I respect that list, Alejandro was very cool and the scenes with him were nicely done. I can't choose specific characters for mw2 because imo they all did a great job, was a very hyping campaign not gonna lie.
I’m so confused with Shadow Company’s arc in the reboot. Apparently they’ve been helping 141 for years according to the flashback. 141 freaked out and tried to kill Graves over a base. Shadow company went from being enemies to allies again. 141 and Shadow Company have the exact same enemy. I swear Shadow Company is only in the game to sell more skins
One of the best characters in this reboot. He is so likeable and badass. I really hope they do not kill off this character as he is what I look forward to the most in the campaign modes.
Graves is the best character to come out of this reboot. Shepherd is dead so I’d see him and Shadow definitely having more freedom to do whatever they want. Would probably align themselves in a love / hate relationship with 141 in taking out Makarov
Just rewatched the MW2 betrayal and Task Force 141 initiated hostility before The Shadows (Bare in mind their weapons were still lowered at the time) despite being given direct orders from their CoC they held operational capacity of the Mexican FOB/Base. The Shadows opened fire after being attacked by Alejandro while also being detained with zip ties. Tho one could argue this was reasonable force given both sides had weapons. So technically Graves wasn't lying in the Congress meeting nor should Task Force 141 hold such hostility to Graves.
Graves has no right to detain a Mexican Special Forces military base. Alejandro was on the right to defend his base, SC clearly is wrong. All of SC activity in Las Almas is pure illegal.
Mate I swear Warren Kole (actor for Graves) is so good in playing bad guys 😂 He just adds in those little gestures that gives more flavour to the character.
He is a great character. I hope that in the upcoming Modern Warfare 4 he will be a playable character in the story. Now that Shepherd has died at the hands of Price, that could mean that Task Force 141 will be pursued by the US. Graves could be sent to capture them and be responsible for some of the team's deaths, like Price. That would be cool and something to see.
I hope they don’t get pursued by the US. Shepherd’s crimes were already exposed by the US. I have a feeling Graves will be in prison, and 141 may have to recruit him for an emergency
@@Wolfgodmak He didn't have choice, he warned them, didn't want a disaster and also Shepherd is pressuring him. The civilians he lost control and also that's mercs life.
Not really. There wasn't any indication he was in the tank, and these rumours have been going on since the release of MW2. Palpatine, however, came out of nowhere, and writers didn't even bother to create a reason for him to return.
Soap: What are you up to ? Graves: I'm up to doing my job, kid, you should try it sometime. The sheer AUDACITY of this guy lel. Graves is such a sarcastic asshole, i love it lmao.
I personally enjoy they killed Shepherd in this reboot. Shepherd was the handler keeping Graves on a leash. With Shepherd gone, Graves can do whatever he wants whenever he wants, sadly in the next MW game.
Alejandro Vargas also needs to return in MWIIII wanting to get revenge on Graves for killing his own men; so I predict that he might have a fight with both Graves and El Sin Nombre and that if he defeats Graves he will have El Sin Nombre kill him
Lets be real, Graves is the only upside in this new modern warfare 3 reboot. Not even a game, more of a DLC at this point. Still, Graves is fucking awesome.
We have found the worlds most Dedicated Vanguard Fan. Im willing to bet they had the Statistics on how many people actually finished the campaign. And they saw they could cut more corners and re-hire the same exact damn actors.
I don't understand one plot point. Graves betrayed 141 and then in search of Hassan, he literally mass murders an entire town in Mexico, and yet it's not bought up even once in MW3. Also, in the courtroom, the judge just asks regarding Shepherd and Graves betraying TF 141, but he doesn't even ask about all the people he murdered. This was a missed opportunity to bring back Alejandro from the previous game, as he could give a testament against Graves stating that he locked his men up, snatched the Los Vaqueros base and then murders hundreds of his people, and that would have been the end of Graves and Shepherd. I'm not saying thst betraying 141 was something to be ignored, sure that was bad too, but it's the fact that he went to another country and committed a massive war crime. Also, when Soap, Ghost, Gaz and Price are forced to work with him again, they're just pissed at him for betraying them, not because he committed such a horrible massacre. This shows how poorly written the story in this game was
the citizens who were living in the town in Las Almas Mexico were working with the Cartel along with the cops too Graves gave them the opportunity to walk away in MW2 (referring to Los Vaqueros & TF141) because Shepherd had plans of betraying TF141 & Los Vaqueros which is why Graves betrayed Shepherd in Congress (remember, Alejandro intervened first which is what made Graves have him incarcerated)
@@agentlinrov1474 thank you 😊. Idk there’s room for just about anything. I was hoping for. MW3 they were going to have the hospital mission that was a story in Ghosts. 60 operators against an army, a few rise from the sand we get Elias and Rorke and they tie ghosts into the modern warfare storyline as Makarov gets support from…Mexico and below as support, starting WW3. Would’ve made for a better game seeing as how las Almas cartel could overthrow the governments and recruit those who are….willing. Idk I think they goofed and the only way to recover is add more story missions and for this to be one of them.
Sad how terrible Shepard is as an Antagonist. Graves should have had way more screen time since he actually does stuff, not sit behind a table and say things like Shepard.
I like how Farah and Alex shake hands with Graves like normal, because of all the support Shadow Company has been granting Farah, and also that scene from Modern Warfare 2 - Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 [ Season 5 ] , it just shows that Farah and Alex might have some death flags in there for siding with the anti-hero of the series so far.
It will be way more interesting if Alejandro and Rudolfo are around. Maximum tense is guaranteed. Still hate it when they kill Soap that way. He's my favorite.
