Modernizing The Classic Characters 

Now that Sega is going full open world it would be interesting to see characters from previous games and comics populating the world. If they do it right it would be a total game changer.

People rag on Sonic Boom, but I thought the basic idea of the gameplay was pretty great. Having four swappable characters who all interact with big environments in different ways looked really fun! Unfortunately, it was Sonic Boom. Not sure if having the squad at all times, or having each character running solo would be better, but either way, Sonic Frontiers open world with that multi-character system could open up a lot of options. Teams would mean not having to so blatantly mark what areas are for whom. Say you can have a team of three on the field alla Sonic Heroes, but as you discover and unlock characters, you can swap members of your core team at hub locations. You could unlock like nine characters, and there is some overlap of abilities, but everyone has different quirks to things. Tails and Ray can fly, but Tails has height while Ray can glide much further than even Knuckles, and unlike Knuckles can ascend with updrafts. You see some collectables up high, and you might be able to reach them with Tails or Knuckles with some luck and trickery, but give it a shot with Ray once you've unlocked him, and its much easier. Something like that. Anyway, I don't imagine they'd go for something that involved, but it would be cool.

honestly knowing that sonic and his friends actually remember might and ray is actually insane.. I watched the tailstube recently and it honestly had me speculated. I don't know why but i got Sa3 vibes from it. i feel like there's a huge possibility that might and ray will appear in sonic adventure 3 ( which is most likely the next mainline game ). I could be wrong but at the same time its like you never know what they're doing, like they literally mentioned them and actually remembered those characters even fang like its insane. i honestly do fee like they're going to somehow introduce those characters into the modern universe very very soon because it's like why would you have the modern cast talk about them like that? they're clearly hinting something that's right in front of our faces.

I originally thought this was a response to the recent Tailstube video. One of of the things it made me think about was the potential of some these classic characters being reintroduced in the Modern canon. Unlike Shadow where there's no way to incorporate him into the Classic canon due to his place in the timeline, the classic characters don't have such a restriction. In fact they're perfectly placed to where at any point they could just show up to be an ally or a hindrance to our core four characters. Either way that Tailstube video gave me the tiniest bit of hope we could see these characters in the future again. On a slightly separate note, what if next years holiday game is Shadow focused since his movie is coming out next year.

Would've been great to see such scrapped characters as Tiara Boobowski and Honey the Cat appear at all, let alone modernized.

I imagine Mighty to sound and act like Tien from DBZA. The voice just fits him so much.

Don't think we'll see the classic characters coming back any time soon but I think Trip probably will show up in the modern timeline hinted by Amy in the last Tailstube. Maybe Trip will be the bridge that connects classic and modern and we'll eventually see Fang and co. modernized as time passes.

Also, while I didn't read the Archie comics much, it is weird to me to have Team Kaotix in the "modern era" now, and Mighty and Ray aren't in them.

Can you modernize Trip the sungazer lizard? I WONDER how she whould look like...
