Maybe Shadow would be the only playable character in this game, and they had a mismanagement in the page details. My theory is that, they are going to add Shadow's companions in the site instead of more playable characters.
Yeah, Gemerl's in an ambiguous situation as to if the robot is Emerl. It's mentioned that Gemerl was created by Emerl's data hence also his naming convention, but also in Advance 3 when Super Sonic teamed up with Eggman the boss music is a darker ominous reprise of Emerl's theme from Battle, plus the irony that the scientist who was responsible for Emerl's tragic end is now the one helping Sonic to make things right in stopping Gemerl who gets a happy ending once Tails fixes him up peacefully lives with Cream who in Battle Emerl arguably connected to the most aside from Shadow, in learning that violence isn't the answer to everything and as to not be like Gizoid of the past. I'm in the boat that Gemerl is actually Emerl just reincarnated, especially with how Gerald went as to give Emerl and Shadow souls, plus this series after Frontiers with the Ancients makes it as if data/souls can be linked in a way from the Egg Memo from Eggman's commentary on it and the doctor himself has given some of his creations souls too even to the point that some of them betray him. Plus funnily enough in Archie I know that there was a thing where Gamma was still alive but got hunted down by Omega and in a final act upon his destruction Gamma gives Omega a soul by transferring over his data leading to Omega defecting and joining GUN/Team Dark, so if we take the transferring of data here too of what remained of Emerl to Gemerl can be applied as well. But yeah it feels like until an actual confirmation if they ever will address that they've just left it up to interpretation.
Kirk Thorton in my opinion was never a bad voice for Shadow. But until recently, he never was given any good material or direction to work off of. So it’s great to see him finally be given better material and have a better understanding of Shadow. As for the animation itself, I was blown away with how beautiful the teaser looked. I wish they made an animated spinoff series in that style. It’s great to see more of Shadow and Maria’s dynamic and more events that took place on the ARK. Such as Emerl’s uncontrollable rampage. It’s great to see SEGA bring back and build upon older pieces of Sonic lore again and not just bring back Green Hill or Chemical Plant again. I don’t think Emerl will play much of a role outside of the Dark Beginnings prologue since I feel like his appearance in it is just to show what happened on the ARK and why he was sealed away as stated in Gerald’s diary in Sonic Battle. Plus, Gemerl sort of acts as a replacement for Emerl both symbolically and literally. Gemerl was built from the data Dr. Eggman was able to salvage from Emerl before his destruction and research that Gerald left in his diary. In a way. Gemerl is Emerl reborn/rebuilt. At least that’s how I understood it. And after Eggman lost control of Gemerl and he was defeated after Advance 3, Tails fixed up Gemerl and freed him from Eggman’s coding. Allowing him to be good and live his own life and be Cream’s friend/bodyguard. But anyway, I’m super excited to see more of the Dark Beginnings prologue and how it will tie into Sonic X Shadow Generations.
This animation has me absolutely flabbergasted it looks so good! There's a poster for the animation that shows both Rouge and Omega...curious. Also, I don't know if you've seen it yet, but Ian Flynn hinted on Twitter to Commander Tower having some relevance in Shadow Generations. I know I should keep my expectations in check but it's starting to get tough 😆
This is the description for the Dark Beginnings teaser on their YT channel, "Past and present collide in a frantic chase for truth and understanding! Shadow is haunted by the memories of battles fought and lives lost. But these nightmares aren’t just lingering pain! They’re prompted by a force Shadow thought was destroyed." So yes these are being caused by Black Doom so he may or may not show up in these episodes. Also Gemerl IS evil or was anyway, he was created by Dr. Eggman in the events of Advanced 3 to be a copy of Emerl for him to use. In the end it betrayed him and after defeating it Tails reprogrammed it to be nice which it then grew an attachment to Cream.
Eh anime models in 3D like in game just look weird rn in my head, the human models in Shadow 05 fit better for in game humans same with Unleashed. They're better off keeping them looking full on anime for animations like this. Kirk has always sounded great as Shadow, his performance in the animation is the exact same he's given throughout his entire time playing the character outside of like Boom which is a spin off series. Y'all not accepting his voice as Shadow was entirely a you thing and it always as been, it was never a script issue or characterization issue, it was a fan issue. The only time his characterization was weird was again in the Boom series. So I agree it is sad that y'all have been so weirdly against Kirk as Shadow then all of a sudden he does the same great performance in a new animation around the character years later and suddenly people do a 180, but better late than never I guess. He never got a bad script in the mainline games nor was it ever not faithful to the lore it just never went as deep into his backstory as this is. Kirk never said he was able to play the character better or "more accurate to how fans see him" now like he wasn't doing so already, he stated that he took on a slightly different approach voicing him and by that he just means playing Shadow accordingly to fit in these intense emotional scenarios that they're putting him in now.

More Archie and IDW characters are coming and their roles will be original. I’m not taking any story from either comic series, so they will be coming but their characters will feel new. It is my own Sonic canon so I wanna lean into that fact.
I think we're in the sort of age where Sonic Team and Sega are recognising that the people who grew up with the 2000s era Sonic titles have grown up and would have nostalgia for the entries around that time, flawed with age as some may be. Just as it was the classic trilogy's time to be referenced for a while, I think we're entering a renaissance of Adventure era content with Frontiers and Shadow Generations as the start. Above all, I really HOPE that even if we don't get straight up remakes we do see remasters and ports, a lot of titles would be money printers if rereleased on the Switch for example (as the biggest Sonic install base casually).
What I'm afraid of is... This is just Sonic Generations + "Episode Shadow" and if they don't show a lot is that there isn't a lot to show. Maybe is pesimistic to think that they would cash grab fans with this, but I don't know, why to make it a part of Sonic Generations so? SG is a finished game in its own, why not making a full game about shadow instead. This will be the Sonic Generations Definitive Edition experience, maybe there are cool moments, but I do not expect a lot tbh. I hope I'm wrong, but I think we are not seeing Mephiles here. Maybe there is a tease about the future of the franchise, but this is just a little expansion that when it releases, everyone will think that this should be selled as a dlc for the people who have the game in steam or other platform. Or just a port or remake of some sort. Don't get your expectations very high, that's the only thing I'm gonna say. SG is a great game, I just wish this version solves the problems I have from the PC port of the game.
Is it unpopular opinion that I don’t like the lock on feature when doing a homing attack? I saw in the gameplay for shadow generations you can even lock in on the rails. If they remake sonic adventures 1 and 2 it won’t feel right if they keep it. Makes shit too easy
Wait so about Shadow using chaos control He does give you a chaos emerald after beating his boss battle the first time though, so he'd possibly have a chaos emerald up to that battle
Don't get your hopes up Silver fans, Emerl will most likely be the playable character. This is the year of STEWPED after all, we gotta wait 2 more years for it to be Silver's year. 🙄
I think there are many forces at play here. They already know you like Sonic. They know your greasy ass will buy the next game or the next movie ticket. They need your girlfriend, who knows nothing about Sonic to be into it. So she can see that it's a town, just like towns she knows. She needs to see a woman doing yoga. She needs to hear krispy kreme and she needs to see a fidget spinner so she can see oh this is just like real life. And then she needs to see Sonic be introduced from the ground up. That's what movie 1 was about. If you'll notice they gradually started introducing more and more juicy lore in Movie 2, and they are going to go absolute ham in movie 3. You cannot just make a casual story about Shadow the Hedgheog, his story is specific, it is tragic, and it is intense. I have no excuse for the Knuckles show though, that looks like it was another SEGA lie for cash, like Sonic Forces. As "artistic" as one might want it to seem, it barely had Knuckles for budget reasons, and quite honestly, it shouldn't exist. At the very least we now have a whole 40 mins of Knuckles the Echidna learning about jewish traditions, which is just bizarre and hilarious.
Thinking about it yes it could be silver. They could have us play as shadow and at some point unlock silver then like most sonic games have us beat that to unlock the true ending to the game. Btw just watched that sonic/ shadow dark generations clip that dropped 10 hours ago and how dope would it be if they gave us Emerl!! Lastly, if you watched sonic X Emerl whenever he turned bad his blue eyes would turn red. When blue he was good. In the preview his eyes are blue so is he actually on the good side and protecting them from Eggmana grandfather ? I just can’t wait man it’s been a long time coming.
I watch this video day on the day Dark Beginning preview and it’s probably 100% gonna be Emerl, also I love that they’re making 3 episodes for the prologue!
I know I’m so happy Emerl is back! And they should just make a show with that style and tone. Makes me wonder what Keanu’s performance will bring out of Shadow. Inspires me to voice him differently than I have been.
Hopefully it’s emerl or Maria there. They make the most sense since idk. I think that it should be emerl since he’s like locked in there Imo. I’m grateful that nobody else is taking shadows spotlight
It was in fact, none of the characters that I had guessed but now I feel weird for not guessing that. So glad to see Emerl back!!! That animation teaser was PERFECT!
@@soniccreations I don't really know a whole lot about Emerl. Like he was a robot in Advanced 3 or something that befriended Cream by the end but beyond that I really don't know about him. If you do and could enlighten me that'd be pretty cool. And I don't blame you for not guessing him, I never would've expected him at all.
I saw a comment earlier where someone said it could be Emerl.. I was thinking thats completely wrong. But I just saw the animation poster and Emerl is literally there!!
Could be Super Shadow? I remember in Forces, they had Super Sonic as a separate character that you had to select to play him in stages. Maybe that could be the same case here?
Remember that this project is mainly focused on Shadow. Silver could still appear in the story though, but it is unlikely that he’s actually playable. But I’m sure we’ll get a playable Silver in the future.
I think it could be dreamcast shadow, from sa2. The designs are different enough, and having two shadows, one modern one old, just really fits with sonic generations, and the whole theme, it'd be kinda weird to have modern sonic, classic sonic, shadow, and some character that's not shadow in any way. It was also speculated that dreamcast era was going to be an era in sonic generations before cancelled.
I’m thinking both Sonics had 2 different gameplay styles being the modern and classic So Shadow is the modern gameplay with his own powers It could be Blaze to match the classic games from her time in the Rush games with her flames powers to match Shadows chaos powers Blaze was involved in the time travel with Silver so they could explain the 2 different Blazes one from the Sol dimension and the one from the future The one from the future absorbed Iblis to save the world so the story could be Sol dimension Blaze is pulled into the story by a Blaze that has been completely taken over Iblis
Well I have 2 possibles. 1. A secret Silver Generations campaign. 2. Infinite and the story can got to the future to Forces and that's how Shadow knows about Infinite a little bit.
