Interesting tour of your Stabi Mark the Boat catch is a must once you’ve got it it’s a dream to launch and retrieve especially when the ramp is crowded. Not a fan of the top flush port it doesn’t allow the the engine to reach temp to open the thermostat and be flushed out. All of the flushing products out now have a fitting to go on your engine muffs.
@selfsuffishingme

That's interesting about the flush thingy. Yeah, I think a catch will be on our next boat. That would be pretty cool 👍

Hey Mark, if you get into trolling lures abit more an easy way to get two or three more lines out is to mount the bolt on rod holders to either Side of your rocket launcher at 45deg. It sticks the rods out abit wider from the boat and they are easy to get to, it’s the first step towards outriggers, but much simpler and easier. Depending on wind you can run one rod each side of the rocket launcher and one in the middle slot of the rocket launcher and your practically big game fishing ;) plus when they all go off it’s good fun with all the chaos. Great set up on the boat, enjoy the time on the water with the family, it makes all the money and petrol worth it!

Nice boat. I have a smaller boat with a different electric motor on it. What i did was change the plug to an anderson plug. Just made it so much easier to charge / replace when corroded. Also you can buy a spray from like jaycar for electronics it prevents the rust and a solid connection
@selfsuffishingme

i strongly suggest putting the bilge on a float switch. It will be the first indication something is wrong ie bungs out.

@scotty2307
@scotty2307 Год назад
That is really a nice boat. I would not have figured that canvas top to be a DIY. It looks like it was meant to be there. I would bet that your automatic bilge pump is electronic rather than having a float switch. Many automatic bilge pumps work by periodically turning the pump on for a short time. If water is present, the current draw will be above some preset threshold, and the pump will then stay on until it is no longer pumping water. When it quits pumping water the electric load will drop, and the pump will shut down, and return to standby.

Dielectric grease is your friend in saltwater electronics like trolling motor plug connections... most guys end up doing away with the plug and running wires directly to the batteries with a suitable breaker between of course. 36 volt requires a 60 amp breaker. 🤙🦀🌴

The Minn Kota gps thingy is the heading sensor - it helps the main unit know the length and direction of your boat for spot lock and, more importantly, north heading function (north helps immensely when drifting if the tide and wind arnt playing)

Hey Mark, you need to use muffs and flush your motor properly. Start the motor and run for at least 20 minutes to open your thermostat. :)
@stuartbatcheldor5978
@stuartbatcheldor5978 Год назад
My mechanic has told me that you should always flush your motor in a bin of fresh water with a few drops of yellow dishwashing liquid. Apparently the yellow dwl is natural and better for binding to the salt. The reason for using the bin is that your boat impeller can pick up grit and this will tear it. Also they are rubber and develop a memory so they won't flex. This stops the marine water from being pumped around your engine. If this fails ( look at the tell-tale to see that it flows well once the engine is at operating temperature) you will lunch the motor. Don't ask me how I know this lol! My wife was not a happy Jan!
@liamwindsor5854
@liamwindsor5854 Год назад
Not true! Yamaha advise to use the flush port only!
@BadDecisionsJeep

Just a thought but you could easily remove that crank handle and use a hand held impact drill to move it with ease. Good luck bud.
@johnsipolis

Hey Mark, good walk around, love the boat set-up. How do you deploy the Minnkota from where it is?
@chriswrightson5557
@chriswrightson5557 Год назад
Definitely use ear muffs to flush the outboard. The top port is just for a quick silent flush in the middle of the night etc. as it doesn't flush the whole system.

Have you considered adding a solar panel or two on the roof of the boat for self charging and possibly as emergency power source in case you somehow run out of power in the middle of the ocean?
