my mom always told me to not worry about those people. they make what they need to make and sell what they need to sell; theres money and industry in everything. you just have to remember that you are doing well and automatically doing better than they are. look past the competition--it really doesn't matter your ranking, you did great
Thanks, I agree that it's not all about the competitions and that there will ultimately always be some team out there, but as long as the passion and heart is in robotics, there's not much to worry about.
This is not the first time this stuff has been happening. Its been happening for years. Just a time when a team made videos about it and people get shocked like it hasn't happened, I hasn't.
What if vex made new motors that are way better so these motors are out of use? But way more protected. But also that might end up unfair do to shipping and stuff like pneumatics
Owen, I've been trying to figure out how some robots are so much faster than either of my kids robots. Teams like Go Go Boba seem to be able to run much higher gear ratios on their drive trains and intakes while still maintaining the power to pick up blocks. I've been really struggling to understand how they do this so we can replicate their methods. Is their robot just very well built so friction is minimized? Are they using some type of lubricant? Now, for the first time I'm wondering, are they using aftermarket motors that are more powerful? I really wish I better understood how they were doing it so I could help teach my kids how to make better robots.
This is really interesting. The other day Ezra finally made a robot on a 4-motor drive base, 2:1 gear ratio, when he first drove the robot on the field, I saw he was a bit disappointed, the first thing he told me was, it's still not as fast as that robot. Yes, that robot. We really don't know how to make a robot match the speed, if there is any resources of learning, I believe all kids would love to explore them.
@@kaiyanwang5496 I was having this conversation with a parent from another team at a tournament over the weekend. There are clearly some teams that are not interested in sharing what they know with other teams. One team went so far as to cover their robot when it wasn't on the field so people can't study how it works. It feels very antithetical to how a robotics program for students should be. I've been very appreciative of you and how you've invited other teams in to your home so they can learn from one another. It is how this program should be.
@@kaiyanwang5496I think it is worthy to note though that not all top magkid specifically teams are mentor built. However, there are some that are for sure.
How do we go about checking firmware on motors. This is crazy and it has been around so long. Changing motors has been a problem in VRC before but that was with cortex
So how did people find it out in VRC before? Was it like a robot is significantly more powerful than others then people noticed something was not right?
There was no way to find or determine whether their motor is powerful. A lot of teams stop using modified motor in VRC because vex started to make a better motor. @@flyingcheese22608a
