I don't get peoples hate towards the 996. It's actually my favorite era. These turbo 996's in deep blue, with those curvy 5-spoke factory rims and the turbo wing with the front splitter look fantastic.

911's always look so smooth on roads like this. This one looked like a lot of fun

Matt, you should drive the 996.2 with the stock 3.6 motor (up from 3.4 in early 996s). It really solves the power problem of the pre 2002 cars. 3 gear would have pulled that hill you went flat out on.

Porsche 2ng gear pops out on mine too. Don’t hold it in tho cuz it will grind the gears. Just throw it in and make sure if it comes out your quick about taking it out and putting back in. I thought I was the only one.

The real joys of owning a 996's are being able to work on it. Having owned 356's, 912's, 911's, and 914's they are a complete bargain just change the man seal, IMS, water pump, thermostat, and Gibbs oil changes and your good to go.

I really am thinking of getting a 996. But the steering wheel position is nearly a deal breaker. I'm incredibly average height. The problem is that the wheel nearly rests on my thighs, and it's totally not adjustable... at all. I understand you get the road presence and steering dynamics, but damn. Not sure if I'd ever enjoy it.

Nice car, really like these 996's, nice balance of a budget car with performance - especially for more budget minded people.

To your PSA; Don't with the whole "you're on RU-vid anyway, wasting time, so waste some more time". It's a losing argument. I love your channel and watch ads before videos all the time, since I watch mostly on iPad, unless I'm working (like right now, I'm on my mac). But if I can save time anywhere, I will, when on a computer I watch in fast forward actually. So don't think because people watch your videos that they have extra time to waste. It's condescending.

IMO.. It's not that you're asking for handouts. It's that we're asking to give them to you, because you provide valuable content to us - but you don't want us to through any easy means besides ads. And we know that straight-up money is one of the best ways to do that. Some of us don't really want to support you through *just* disabling our ad-blockers. You make AWESOME content, Matt! I think you nailed with the comment about it being perfect for clearing your head on a weekend - I work in IT during the week and am behind a desk, it's so nice to either spanner on the (wonderfully analogue) 996, or take it out for a drive and just enjoy the manual driving experience. Love the way it looks too, one of the best looking 911's in my (completely biased) opinion :)

Kinda odd to me that you say you don't want money, "handouts" (not handouts IMO since you develop a product), patreon, etc., but you want viewers to watch the ad. What's the difference? The money is green either way. There's a very old, very common adage: "Time IS money", if it's the same to you at least let the people choose for themselves if they want to spend time or money. I don't do ads at the moment but I'm more than willing to throw the content creators I enjoy like yourself money every month via patreon or similar - and I do it.
