keep it short is my opinion. I had thick wavy hair until I was 45 then it started thinning and balding. I now keep it very short and it looks great. I missed my locks for a while but live in the moment not the past.

I use a little pomade in damp hair then blow dry into shape. Then a little more pomade to hold it.

@@40OverFashion I’m silver but my hair is yellowing and has no dominant color? What do you use to make the silver pop? Over tried purple shampoo and it never helped much!

I usually go between Layrite cement and Alpha pomade (or sometimes both), bit I just picked up the new pomade from Craft and it's been pretty good so far.

@@40OverFashion Right on. I try tons of different products but lately I've been using Pacino's paste as pre-styler and finishing with The Strand sea salt spray. Great vid man!

Alex Traxler It’s not that new a thing. There are a few reasons. Some barbers prefer to wear them because they feel that they have a better grip on their tools especially when working on wet or damp hair. Hair that is just dampened may retain product or freshly washed and conditioned hair prior to cutting - both may be “slippery” to hold. Another reason is sanitary - especially when it comes to shaving. It is to protect both that client and the barber. A barber who has cut himself will often wear a single glove to keep the cut dry and clean. The last reason that comes to mind are hair splinters that lodge themselves into the skin. They can be very small, very annoying and very painful, if rubbed the wrong way. The most important tool a barber can have is a good pair of tweezers! I’m an “older” barber. I have described what I have tried in the past. I still prefer to cut hair bare handed. After a serious cut I needed to wear a glove for several weeks. And believe me, hair splinters are the worst. You’re finished for the day, cleaned up on your way home and put your hand in your pocket and realize there’s a hair splinter lodged in your hand. All you can think about is getting that piece of hair out!
