You beat us to the punch! And you made something VERY similar to our prototype. We are planning on calling the control a 'knee control.' We are going to include a cushion for the knee and are also trying to integrate a cable instead of a linkage system. Yours is also a bit higher than we would mount ours. We think the knee control is safer then a foot control, especially after seeing foot control operators freeze up when their hand gets caught(causing more damage). With the knee control, we are hoping that the operator can escape the danger much faster, or avoid it all together. We are close to finishing up, the only major task that remains is testing the components real world function and safety. Overall, you have done a great job. Excellent fab work, and congratulations for beating us at our own game!
@SplitFireSalesInc THANK SO MUCH! That's great! Many people have asked. I enjoy fabrication and am looking to make the knee control adjustable vertically, would be very simple I think. I chose not to use a cable approach because cables that are mounted vertically tend to get moisture in and freeze. (Unless covered well) I really am enjoying this splitter, and it's simplicity/effectiveness. Keep up the good work. I have a couple more mods
@@dereksstuff8395 Cool! Yes that would be a nice feature. Yes we have to do some testing with the cable. It is high quality, but is still prone to the typical issues. We are happy you are! It looks like you are running a lot of volume through it! Looking forward to seeing it!
That’s a game changer buddy. Sorry to hear about your foot but stoked you figured out how to adapt. Made that splitter even better. Have a great day bud God Bless 👍
Very interesting, that’s a great design. When I ordered mine they said they were looking into something different. I was thinking the same for the hitch it’s too low, good job on that.
I heard from a fellow RU-vidr that they are getting an 1165V with a FACTORY option sinilar to yours instead of the foot pedal that most vertical splitters use. Is supposed to be available as a retrofit kit once Split-Fire releases it. Am surprised how fast this splitter is. If was doing firewood only for myself for campfires and such, this is the splitter I would get.
awesome! I hope the folks at Split-Fire see this video and get some ideas! Thanks for sharing this! The more I see this little splitter the more I like it. My only concern is that I regularly deal with large, tree-service wood and I'd like to be able to work with a 30" round on the splitting table. Is it easy to remove that bumper/guard on the front? (if so, then I could put larger rounds on there, just overhang a few inches)
@FirewoodInTheField Thanks! The front comes off with just a few bolts. I'm going to make a video on how easy it could tip over, and what I did to combat that! Very simple mod.
