In this 12-minute developer focused demo, Chris Kent reminds us not all pages on a modern site are modern by default and modern pages are not easily customizable, yet we really want to change formatting slightly. See how to create a modern looking Events page using events-format-tiles-only.json (sample found in GitHub view samples gallery). Configure list and tile views - color text, add a hover card/face-pile and/or beautify events list rendering. This PnP Community demo is taken from the bi-weekly Microsoft 365 - General M365 development Special Interest Group (SIG) community call recorded on June 25, 2020

I love these JSON formatting demos, Chris. I am sure warrior horses must be pretty excited for those events now. 😁

Thanks this got me really interested in formatting. Wish there was a way to take HTML and turn it into the required JSON or at least get you in the ballpark to speed things up btw. I did run into an issue where I used the TileProps and it looks great except there is no way to get a link that would end up in Tiles view. I cant get someone to see that view unless THEY specifically pick it. I did some digging and it looks like its a known thing but I hope they find a way to do that so I can just link right to that visualization.

Yes this works great and is very clever, but its not possible to connect it to the Modern List Web Part for rendering on another page since the modern List WP doesn't recognize events lists :(

Hi! Thank you very much for this tutorial. I tried but when i need to choose the "Tile" view.... it is not available. Is this feature has been disabled for event lists?

Those are pretty awesome indeed - your lists don't have to be ugly at all 👏

Thanks for the information, but please please please, just add a calendar view without needing development/deployment/support/etc.

I agree Phil C! I feel like I am missing something very simple but can I just get a traditional month/week view of a group calendar embedded a SharePoint page? I don't really need/want tiles.

I know this is an old video but I'm running into the same thing a year later. I'll I want to do is display an exchange equipment calendar as an overlay into my sharepoint site. You'd think this would be stupid silly dumb. ugh! (everything is O365)
