U-Wrench is a cool business that makes the difficult or next to impossible, do-able. Having the Sarah-N-Tuned shop share space in the building, makes the location an automotive answers hot spot. Sarah always finds a way to get things done, correctly. They guys at U-Wrench are no different. Pros that make it look easy.
Looks really nice for a part that 90% of people will never see. That extra clearance was the final thing that the car needed. Although you should have done a sound test just to share the sweet exhaust note that car has.
I used this pie cut technique back in the 1960's but all I had was a hacksaw and gas welder. it works for those of us who do not have a tubing bender. the smart person knows everything. the wise person know everyone who can help them.
Yeah now that you mention this old school technique for those without a tube bender. I'm floored that the guy didn't make smooth pipe pieces rather than use those pieces with ugly welds. I see future points of failure as time and miles are put on that car.
That exhaust sounds fantastic but after re examining it, it is even too low for our city streets here. There are more 4 wheel drive trucks than cars here. Our roads are not the best and most folks can't fit into regular cars. People are getting larger as a whole. We have 6th graders at 200lbs and 6 feet tall/still growing too. That car would scrape in every driveway and entrance to any business here. It's just how the place is built and we aren't the only town in our state that's this way. A dream if it were like a pristine raceway/nice flat & smooth. Outstanding work.
Uuuuyh oooohh, he corrected himself. He said well get it all lifted up "THAN SARAH" won't scape in her driveway anymore. Somebody heard what he said before and put the sensitivity boom on him. Damn
If you take a short radius 90 and cut in half and make 2 45s turn one side around it will make that shift with just 2 peices or 3 if you need a bigger shift the 3rd peice is just a straight pipe to put in between the 45s
Not as pretty as if mandrel bent, but a damn sight more practical, and there's always a grinder to clean up the rough patches and powder coating to improve appearance and thermal properties.
Serious question: can't you flatten the pipe wherever it traverses a crossmember? If you flatten a circle into an oval it would still have the same flow as you're not changing the internal area like is done with ductwork in a house. Is there some dynamic with the flow that prevents the pipe from being round?
You would need to fill it full of sand. You can also buy oval pipe. If you just hit it with a hammer you’ll effect the flow negatively because of dents and it won’t maintain the Exact inner volume.
Flatten a 3" pipe will still be 3" inside, so it will work no problem at all. You can also cut, let's say a 1" pipe in half and add a flat section between those half pipes for more ground clearance. There used to be available such flat 3" pipes from one of the Hot Rod part suppliers about 20 years ago. No idea if they are still available. Edit: Spin Tech do make those flat exhaust pipes.
Sarah seems REALLY disappointed with the initial scrapping. She wanted the car to be PERFECT for the winner, and it doing this...totally get where she's coming from
I noticed how it hung down too low get caught on everything going down the road custom pipe bending shops do this with solid pipes all you have done here is weaken those areas not a expert though might be fine but believe it will heat up and break only way can be sure is get it all above the frame bottoms and over the back axle area not under the center pretty big pipe too think it might be overkill is that spec.?
Yeesh. "A" on effort. Whomever did the "original" exhaust mods needs remedial training. Good job turning a D- job into a C+ job. Still way too low for most streets in the US. Kids are crazy, i get it, i was crazy as a kid too. Likely the exhaust guys sold the original kid a $800 exhaust job when it should have been a $1,800 job done right with the right diameter pipes with the cat properly under the heat shield. Etc etc.
A lot of you didn't catch the poke at Sarah being a male to female transexual. Tech said he going to make a few test fits "so the new owner can get in and out of HIs Driveway". Lol Sarah knew exactly what he was saying. That's why she had such a glib reaction "Yah"!😮 as if to say I can't believe he made that comment. Go back and watch a few times you'll see. Sarah, being a trans wasn't at all liking his comment.
This is a giveaway car. When Brandon mentioned the new owner he was talking about the future winner of the car not Sarah. Not everyone is as unpleasant as you would like to make them out to be.
