Matt, Amazon sells a 1 1/8" to 1" quil stem adaptor so you can put modern bars and stem on the mini.

Just think of how much time I wasted tearing the bike into pieces, sanding to metal, priming and painting before reassembly. I'm such an idiot! :)

Dude this reminds me of the time I bought a super cheap 12in kids bike in Kuwait to have some kinda fun in my down time while on deployment..... So much fun watching everyone's reaction to a grown man riding a kids bike..... I broke the bars, stem and pedals so I had the welder reinforce them and build metal pedals using the stock spindals..... Super hack but was a fun month of riding in a place I wouldn't have otherwise been able to ride!!!
