Moe Norman knew the easiest way to strike a golf ball. He shared this information with me years ago. Now I want to share it with you.
You can purchase my Best Selling Single Plane Golf Swing book: amzn.to/41KdtA7
In this video, I discuss the proper lead hand and lead arm pulling action vs. the trail hand throwing motion.
About the Single Plane Golf Swing
The Single Plane golf swing is not a quick fix golf technique. It is a system, beginning at address, that simplifies the most important moment of the golf swing - impact.
Starting at address on two planes where the arms hang straight down at address, the Conventional golf swing is complicated. Because the arms are hanging straight down, a conventional golfer must lift the body into impact creating stress on the back.
This upward movement to accommodate the two planes is unnecessary.
The Single Plane Golf swing simplifies the golf swing by eliminating the need for the upward movement by starting and impacting on the same plane.

I'm 39 years old and been following Todd and Moe for 18 months now and just got my FIRST EVER HOLE IN ONE yesterday with the SINGLE PLANE SWING after 26 years of playing amateur tournament golf. Thank you Todd for the hundreds of videos that I've watched the past 18 months to transform my knowledge and understanding of the swing! R.i.p MOE!

I just stumbled onto Moe's story and I am 49. I literally watched 4 videos of moe and hit the ball better than people I know have hit for 20yrs. Such a great human and I thank you for carrying his legacy forward as it should be. Great humans find other great humans. I am inspired to play a lot of golf from now on.

Todd I realize why you are not on tour, God gave you an incredible gift of teaching. You must enjoy it, you do it so well. The detail you give has helped me incredibly. I have a bent left arm (broke), and I was ready to give up golf. Because of you, I am able to hit a ball like my arm isn't broke. It is fun again to go play golf for the first time in 40 years. The single plane swing really gives me confidence I can play decent. Thank you so much! Last time out, I was mesmerized how well I played. It was unbelievable.

Todd, this is an incredible video. I have been doing the single plane for a couple of years and still need improvement. Your tips in this video, with regards to your lead hand movement in the backswing and using this lead arm to pull the club through to impact was what i was missing. I went to the range tonight and i was hitting the best i ever have. My goal is to just be consistent with it. Thank you for sharing this video and the tips. I so want to continue improving. You rock!!

“I almost sounded like somebody that knew something there…” Yes, Todd, you do actually know a lot. 🙂Thanks for going deeper than ever today with the technical explanation of the motion. When to enter/exit radial deviation was still a mystery to me. Mystery solved! Thank you sir.

Great job illustrating a complicated kinesiology lesson! Having the club head square at wall (ball) impact changes the rotation of the club in my left hand at address. I will be trying this tomorrow!

To me, the "heel leads the toe" is essentially the "skipping the rock feeling". And yes, because the trail hand is non-rotational you get the face very open to the path in the downswing. Normally this would require a tremendous amount of timing to square it up at impact but the purpose, or one of the purposes, of the SP setup (grip/stance) is to insure that the face automatically squares at impact. In fact, I was watching a video with Todd and a gentleman from Canada who switched from a more conventional to the SP swing and Todd mentioned that one of the toughest things he had to teach him was that you get compression by coming down with that face open and having it square at the last minute rather than come down with a face more closed to the path. At least, that's what I THINK is going on. :)

Bryson DeChambeau and Steve Stricker are two touring pros that are close to what Moe did plane and hand wise. Just watched Steve Sticker on the Champions tour win the U.S. Senior PGA last week and then this week finished 2nd at the Principal Charity Classic. The man is $1M dollars ahead of everyone else on that tour this year for Schwab Cup points. If you watch his swing, it has a lot of similarity to Moe's swing.

Todd your the first person I have “ seen” onRU-vid that fully explained the swing as thorough as you did. Outstanding! Todd, if people paid attention to you they would only need one lesson. You better stop or pros will be upset they have no students.😅. Nice explanation.

Hey Todd-I love what you’re doing and greatly appreciate your dedication to learning from Moe. I’d love for you to define “efficient” as it relates to the body/mechanism. I take it as efficient =easiest. Or simplest. Ultimately efficient =minimizing the range of motion of the body/mechanism it takes to strike the ball purely. Is that correct? The less the range of motions are manipulated, the more consistent your ball striking will be. Am I correct?

For me the lateral pulling of the lead hand and arms first starts with the lateral movement of my knees just as Moe said. And generally speaking at set up as I drop my club head inches away from my ball as Moe did the heel of my club is more favoring directly in front of my ball as opposed to placing my club head perpendicular directly in front of the ball as I did before just before I swing my club back and forth through my ball. Also as Moe said the left side of the fairway is no longer an issue to me as their is no more spinning my hips or shoulders out of control as I did in a conventional settings up to my ball. Cheers 🥂👌👍😊

If your downswing has the left hand knuckles facing out (Not Facing Down) (Heel Leading the Toe) then why not do that at address, before the takeaway, have the knuckles already facing out, the heel already leading the toe?

Very interesting video as always! I’m wondering about the term, pulling of the left arm. How can you pull without the arm bending? You can offset the force created by rotation but is that pulling with the left arm? When we talk about pushing with the right arm, it’s straitening.
@ToddGravesGolf
@ToddGravesGolf Год назад
You pull with the pulling muscles of back and shoulder as you turn. This pulls the upper arm.

@@ToddGravesGolf I've been watching your videos for weeks and after shooting 100 twice in a row, after about 30 years of bad golf (the best I got was around a 12 handicap 20 years ago), I decided to practice the single plane on the range today. Holy cow it was amazing! I don't think I've ever hit that many balls pure in a practice session, probably 80 to 90 percent. Normally I'll hit about 120 balls and be worn out - today I hit 200 and felt like I could have hit 200 more. At 54 and a little overweight I don't have the range of motion to full send my swing like I used to, this is great for a shorter swing. And the funny thing is, I am not really losing any distance on my irons, maybe 5% on my woods. I was debating whether or not I wanted to continue given my declining physical ability but this give me hope that I may break 90 again soon. Thanks. btw love the stories about Moe.
