In this video we show you how to remove, troubleshoot and re-install a kitchen faucet that had a no hot water issue. We hope this helps some of you solve your own faucet issues.
Tools needed:
- 5/8" open end wrench
- Faucet wrench / tool (this typically comes with the faucet)
- Rags

THIS VID IS A LIFESAVER! A side-note: Removing the faucet is unnecessary if you have a reasonably portable compressor or long enough line. I disconnected the water lines from the valves, and popped the faucet head off and blasted the line out without removing the faucet.

My son in law said the video is a life saver. He installed a new Moen unit with slow hot water. Because of the video, he did not need to remove and replace the new faucet. He checked the hose for the hot water. I don't know technical terms. There was a piece of rubber, barely visible, in it from the old shut off valve. He removed it. Hot water flow is back to normal. Thanks.

I really liked a lot of your tips. Just another one (Kohler kitchen faucet single handle). I found I could unclog the faucet line without taking out the entire faucet. Remove the faucet water line(s) from the main line(s) under the sink. From the top of the faucet, take off the top handle and remove the mixing valve. You can see the water inputs within the faucet itself. You can then use your air pressure directly from the top of the faucet.

Thanks so much for your video! This looked like the problem we are having, and we followed your video instruction exactly. It worked for about one minute and then the hot water stopped again. I took it apart again and realized that with the valve in the fully open position, there is now NO water, hot or cold, coming out. What did I do wrong? Thanks again for this!

Are those hoses in the faucet body replaceable?

My shut off valves don't turn at all. They seem stuck. Why would that happen? Do they need to be replaced?

Great video. I am curious how you were able to un thread the cold water line. I am having a similar problem with my hot side. There appears to be a black plastic piece holding all three lines in, with the hot line in the middle - did you use a tool to do this?

Too late probably but if you unthread the big gold mounting stud the whole body pops out.

We had a water main break on my block one night and ever since they fixed it, my hot water to my kitchen sink and bathroom sink stopped coming out. Could it be that all that dirt from fixing the main break outside clogged up everyone water lines to their homes? Either way, i really dont want to take out my whole faucet and all the lines, i think i will just take out the hot water line and clean it?

It doesn't take much to plug the line and after the water is turned back on the water has always looked dirty to me for a bit. You could disconnect the hot line at both sinks and run it into a bucket. The flow would tell you if it is something in the line or debris in the taps. This is straightforward if you have shut off valves at each sink. Otherwise a 2 person job

@jofalltrades1816 I took the aerator off my kitchen sink and it was significantly clogged. No wonder I had such a weak flow. I don't understand why I only had cold water getting through though. But as soon as I cleaned it, the water pressure and hot water was back in full force like the first day I installed that faucet!! It will be more difficult to get to the aerator in my bathroom bc I have one of those delta waterfall faucets and not much space to work with since it is 3 inches from the wall. So now I know what the problem is. Everytime they shut off and turn on the water, it creates a "water hammer" and a bunch of dirt and debris gets in the lines. Unfortunately they turn off the water a lot on my block. Thanks for the reply!

@@MilkyWayGalaxyy it is a pain for sure. Hopefully they make some upgrades to those mains so they can leave the water on for longer periods of time. I've taken aerators off in new builds and had chunks of lumber come out of the shower spout. Good practice when changing or installing anything new! Cheers

The moens that I have seen have the hot and cold lines that thread into the head of the faucet. They unscrew from the faucet body counter clockwise.

Thanks. I got all the way up to that point and was like now what. I did start twisting but I was unsure if it was twisting off or simply twisting every thing 😂

I have a Moen Smart faucet and it worked great for about a year. After that, nothing but issues. IMO, Moen faucet products are not worth purchasing.

Had a hot waterline puncture. Can the hose be replaced? Only thing holding me up now is not having a faucet wrench to finish removing faucet so that I can see. Edit: I see on your video you’ve removed the line from the faucet, so hopefully I’ll be good on purchasing a new line. Great video! Thanks

Glad it helped! I was going to say, if it is a reputable brand, you should be able to get the parts. I have seen cheaper faucets where the lines do not thread out, but most Moen faucets do. The faucet wrench is a great tool to have in the box. I did one with an adjustable and it's a lot tougher to get on the nut.

Plumber put mine in brand new. Argued and argued he did it right, but hot water pressure was a drip from the moment he installed it, whereas it's fine on every other faucet that I have 😠
