In 1960 my second cousin (my Dad's first cousin) a native of Portage la Prairie, was the first man to ever scale the wall at Stony Mountain Penitentiary. His name was Percy Moggey. He was on the run for eleven months until he finally got caught in his log cabin (which he built himself) just west of Eriksdale up on Highway #6.
At this time he was Canada's most wanted criminal.
His mother was my grandmother's sister (Maude, my grandmother, and Min, Percy's mom).
He used to come by around 1925 to the farm that my Dad grew up on and take Dad to the back of the house and shoot snakes with his revolver.
He turned out to be a notorious bank robber and spent most of his life in jail.
