Looking back at it yeah it was actually a pretty good call out on Ludwig's part, but it looked goofy as hell at the time and the timing of it was perfect.
@@yoga4dogs Ludwig mentioned $3.50 on the phone which wouldn't make sense even as a tip ($17.50 for a pizza delivery for 5 people), between how much they conversed between matches and each match that transpired between the call and physical arrival of the pizza was at least 20 minutes (unrealistic since the guy said he was there already on the phone), Toph mentions the pizza will be very hot when offering it to the girl who retrieved it for them (the pizza would have cooled down during the delivery + ~20 minutes, so this is unrealistic), and Scar, who has overwhelming anxiety, is extremely calm and carefree during all of this--in reality, if no one went to immediately greet the pizza guy, he would've most likely gone himself instead of leaving him hanging. Them getting pizza isn't the bit, because they obviously got pizza, but the phone call was fabricated and acted as a catalyst for them passing around responsibility in a humorous manner.
When toph said the whole "none is to scar as ludwig is to atrioc in some form, now it's time to see who is scar" thing, that was the most Gootecks-on-Excellent-Adventures things I've ever heard.

omg it makes so much sense! mang0 lost his dominance when he got chubby. Mew2King was most dominant in the scene when he had his hairline intact. Armada was very strong but he couldn't win it all until he ditched his mullet and daisy dukes and conformed to internationally accepted fashion standards for young men. Hugs with bad teeth was barely a top player back when the level of gameplay was lower, but he is way better than the top players of that era now and can even take sets off of Leffen and stuff.
@@patoa3481 Abate is held back by his character choice. Ice is held back by the Inverse Law of Female Appreciation. Due to the low female population of the Smash community, his raw handsomeness to skill conversion is impacted because of how far above the normal level of handsomeness he is, and the massive amount of wasted handsomeness actually causes a slight decrease in skill at the extreme end of the equation. I believe Ludwig suffers from this phenomenon as well, but even more so. That's why he's far below Ice's skill. This might be the most handsomest man in Melee and he'd be a new god of Melee if Hbox left and Melee became markedly less gay at the highest levels, allowing better retention of straight female fans.

Why is that the case? 'Ironically' is above all else, a word that introduces tone: specifically, a tone of the comic, or the paradoxical, or the unexpected. Tone can be unwanted when answering such a delicate question. Ludwig, a stone-cold journalist, resorted to the more object- and syntax-focused 'conversely,' and let the tone of his voice, and the word's impact on Scar, convey his meaning to the audience. Tone quibble aside (negation words like 'however' and 'despite' aren't necessarily less accurate than 'ironically' which has become over-used anyhow): both words are fine. The point of my comment was to note that Toph was being a salty bitch for no reason over a legitimate word choice.
I don't understand how people can think ludwig and scar are acting the same, to me they are so completely different. I can't even see how they are similar. Or maybe it's a meme or something and I'm out of the loop lol

This whole batch was good, until now. Ludwig cost both Scar and Toph games, because he couldn't stop his ruse to get them to admit something stupid about the show no one cares about.
