Really enjoyed this set. Lots of songs that blew me away, like 20 Size, Remurdered, and the chill inducing Every Country’s Sun. Awesome band. Cheers Mogwai and fans!!!
This is the best performance of Remurdered I’ve heard. I think it’s a tricky song to do live because it often sounds more uncertain, and you want the end to hit like an anvil - it does in this show.
thank you sooo much for coming to New Zealand. I saw you at the Powerstation in Auckland on March 1st '24. Absolutely superb performance, I wept many times
It’s as beautiful as the non retractability of the talons of rapacious birds or as the uncertainty of muscular movements in wounds of the soft tissues of the posterior cervical region. (Maldoror count of Lautréamont)
It was Yesterday night.....my week was pretty bad and i was zapping thru the TV Programm, as i saw this Band my very very first time. Never heard anything from them. But now they have a new Fan. Their Music took me away....i just wanted to watch one song, to see if i like it.....I watched the Show to the end and it was absolutely awesome !!!!!! Greatest Band i have ever heared Live !!!!
This drummer might have listened to Bonzo of Led Zeppelin (I could be wrong). The beat is sometimes very syncopated and just a bit ahead or behind the downbeat in a very planned "hovering" way. This is an incredibly stylized sort of drumming that in some ways reminds me of A Perfect Circle or Puscifer. Totally original in approach to percussion instrument playing and different on every song. I am a guitarist who appreciates good drummers. With such a complex overlay of instruments, their drummer has found a way to interweave with the vast Mogwai sound but still be very distinctive. I can see the love on the drummer's face when playing. It helps too that the engineering is so great and nothing gets lost in the mix.
Wife: "Does every song have to have the squealing feedback?" Me: "What?" Wife: " DOES EVERY SONG HAVE TO HAVE SQUEALING FEEDBACK?" Me: "No... but it's Mogwai, so, yes."
Just saw mogwai in hamburg. Just a great show, thank you! Cat does a really good job backing up for Martin. Nevertheless, get well soon, martin! What i didnt find out, who is the new guitarrist? He rocks.
Dar Ancienne Belgique Team, thank you so much for this fantastic videos. Just one thing, is it possible to shift the audio a little bit (one or two frames), so that it syncs with the video?
HOLY SH*T! Who are these people? They are not of this Earth. Have we been visited by vastly superior aliens and did not know it? They might be angels, especially the drummer who is my opinion the heartbeat of the group.
Technical malfunction. He plays forward and fades the volume in onbeat - here it looks like the volume pedal doesn't work as intended, at least for the clean bass mix for the Stream.
I'm still a huge fan of let's say 2-3 first albums... after that is somewhat lazy repeat-settings-same-song / but the concert was great, always a sound blast, amazing gig with great edges but still with somewhat too much comfort zone... if anyone can remember of their very first gig in brussels at the botanique 'young team' period, or even the one one the cody period
Don't know how you can say they're repeating the same songs to be honest, even if you don't like their more recent albums, Every Country's Sun sounds absolutely nothing like Rave Tapes which sounds nothing like Hardcore Will Never Die which sounds nothing like The Hawk Is Howling. There is no similarity from one album to the next.
At night, you're driving You don't know where you're going to But you keep driving And try as you might, time passes by You see two roads ahead of you A left or right And then you realize this road you're on Will never end These roads, you've seen before In one of your recurring dreams It seems where you are now Just maybe is another dream But rest won't come to you As you drive on and lose control The wheel spins faster now A left or right means nothing now In dreams. *Not sure how accurate this is *
Hi, I'm glad you have the same feeling as me ^^ As far as I understand, Dominic seems to use a volume pedal for this song. He strums the chords out of tempo and bring the sound in with the pedal at the right moment. For some reason the pedal doesn't seems to work / is not recorded in this version. The other band member doesn't seems to notice ^^ In this version (ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-AAdZNBKCyi0.html) you see Dominic struming out of tempo and fade the sound in using his pedal at approx 2:20 Anyway ... it sound terrible in this live ;)
I wonder if the sound we're hearing is the non-affected signal straight to the desk? It looks like he's swelling the volume but we're not getting the intended result
... and Cat new drummer is kind of cool, but martin is less heavier and more rolling-drums-with-that-glasgowian-teenagfancubish-mogwai-shit-things to me
I noticed as well. Its not the first time, so I'm wondering if he meant to use a reverb pedal of some sort that times his notes one beat after he makes a stroke, and that he forgot to switch it on or something.
