Original teenagers version sounds like a cliché romantic Malayalam movie from the 2000's. The released version I believe is timeless, except for the unwanted comedy/ stunt scenes. I mean you can remake this movie in Hollywood and can cast a superstar, without the usual romantic track seen in most Malayalam movies.

To all those who comment on mohanlal is great actor and has done some classic movies. Yes there is no doubt he is a gem of an actor. But all sibi malayil is trying to say is that the characters had to be changed to showoff mohalals mass style. Changing script by actors is usual in cinemas, but changing script to make a hero image is pretty cheap and i think this is pretty evident in many mohanlal movies. Also that is the reason why he has a real bad collection of movies recently. And i think the dialogue in maheshinte prathikaram is absolutely perfect “ athinokke lalettan, nair, menon roles maathre cheyyu….”.

Bull shit it being a flop has nothing to do with mohan lal..... Infact mohan lals performance made the movie watchable...

Deevathoothan annu tv'l vannappol ishtapetta aalanu njan. Adu 2024 ayirunilla. That movie did not work in theatre. Atre ollu. Allathe aa cimemak kuzhapamonumilla. Sibi malayi vijarikunnu, adyeham vijaricha pole eduthirunnuvengil hit ayene ennu. Athum oru ambiguity aanu. That might also have not worked. And probably later accepted or not......you never know until it reaches the theatre. Guppy was not a bad movie. It did not work in theatre.

I remember seeing this movie from Siyyad ' s Kokers complex of Mymoon / Lulu. While the movie, as suggested by Sibi Malayil, might have been the sacrificial lamb for the stardom.. But once the Director engage the project as his directorial effort, then he cant blame the actor at all.. The movie had excellent plus points including Music.. Yes, the movie destroyed a good producer like Siyyad financially and Sibi is congratulated for taking the blame... Leave the fiasco and move ahead...

I loved the movie Devadoothan. Sad that it didn’t run. But I would have been curious to see how it would have gone with Sibi Malayil’s initial plan. Would have loved to see that version too. I look at the storyline. Not the actors. Actors don’t appeal to me as long as the storyline is extraordinary.
